Explain The Four Key Values And Ethical Considerations

Four key values and ethical considerations at that I consider most important when establishing /conducting treatment groups are respect and dignity, empowerment, individualization, and understanding/respect/camaraderie among people from diverse backgrounds. Respect and dignity is important when I practice social work because it helps me to provide services regardless of circumstances. For example, when providing services to someone whom I do not agree with their behavior I must treat them with respect and dignity to establish a rapport. I cannot expect someone to treatment me with respect and dignity, if I am not willing to do the same for them. If respect and dignity were missing I could not effective practice social work. Empowerment
is important within my social work practice because everyone should have the right to self determination. When people are involved in making decisions and setting goals for themselves they are more likely to have a positive attitude and accomplish goals. Without empowerment being valued it could lead to people feeling inadequate and helpless. Everyone should be treated as individuals. When practicing social work I engage people that are struggling with the same issues, but it important for me recognize that even though the situation maybe the same everyone is unique and experiences are different. If I do not treatment people as individuals some people needs and concerns will not be met. Understanding, respect, and camaraderie among people from diverse backgrounds are valued in my practice because it provides education and experience. For me to not value and embrace people from diverse backgrounds could lead to me offending someone, resentment, and make a lot of mistakes when trying to provide services.
