I believe that personally, I could explain the four steps of bystander intervention to my chapter, so they understand what to do under unwanted circumstances. The first step of bystander behavior is the person noticing the event happening. Second, the event must be interpreted as a real problem. When explaining this to my members, I think that the first two steps are self-explanatory because someone’s natural instincts can help them understand if they see a problem. The third step, in my opinion, is the most important step. This is when the bystander makes the determination if they are personally responsible for the problem. In order to be part of the solution, the bystander needs to understand how they will first be part of the problem, even if they do not have a straight link to causing the issue. The fourth and final step is when the bystander needs to take a step back and see if they obtain the correct skills and resources to act. I would explain to my chapter that you should only intervene if you are sure that you will have a positive effect on the situation. Just by explaining these four simple steps, I can help my chapter members to see the big picture and understand their place in certain situations. These can all help my chapter members hold each other accountable to them all of their sisters and understand how to
