The Kubler-Ross Model of grief will allow me as a social worker understand each stage of grief this client is experiencing and work at helping them address their needs from each of these stages. Dealing with the loss of a loved one is something the effects a number of areas in their lives. I feel that it is important to understand and address the psychological effects of the loss in their lives. Death creates depression, anxiety, and withdrawal of an individual. Men and women live under societal expectations and stereotypes. Men limit their emotions because they do not want to appear weak. Men also tend to be more comfortable taking on new roles and responsibilities resulting from the loss. Women tend to be more emotional and work through their grief by talking about it. Women look for support and turn to those that can understand their feelings and emotions. Looking at gender differences in grief, there is not right or wrong way. As a social worker it is important to express how grief is an individual and person experience that every individual will experience and navigate the journey at their own pace and in their own
