Mckibben explains reasons for changes in three ways
Firstly it is the incremental changes, these are small changes. It may be a change in Timetable, change in a parents feedback form so that more information is gathered, area being cordoned off because of a leak. This would mean changing or tweaking things for better outcomes. These may be so small that they might not be noticeable.

It might be a new programme which involves parents or it might be a new initiative which requires a lot of changes. In my setting if I need to do away with the books completely and introduce centers of learning and learning by doing this would be an induced change. It would require briefing the parents, training the teachers and convincing the management.
Routine Change is bought about in response to a problem situation. In my setting we had parents coming in late by half an hour every day missing assembly and circle time. Inspite of repeated reminders, the problem was not solved. To solve this issue gates of the school were to be closed by 7:45, parents were informed that this will be done through the school website and written circular was issued. This was how the school leadership and the teachers resolved this issue.
Crisis change is due to an unexpected occurrence in the setting and the Principal taking a decision without the knowledge of the staff. The team does not object to this as they understand it is the need of the time. Before the inspections the Principal in my setting declared that we would be working all Saturdays. Our school is a new venture in Dubai, to prove that we are a thinking school we have introduced GCIE (Global Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) it helps children to learn Robotics and coding from a very young age.
Further, in order to get good numbers the school has introduced a scholarship for the first hundred students and a fixed fee policy for the first 5 years. This I would say is an innovative change where the team and its leadership have initiated changes to meet the requirements of the students and meet the mission and vision of the school.
It is always helpful to know how the staff will react to the changes. This will help the manager and the leadership to plan changes in the right direction and be successful.
