Flourishing to me means being whole, unlocking your complete potential, it means to achieve all stages of success holistically within oneself and environment. What I mean is that in order to achieve flourishment, we need to accept ourselves and the direction that our life is heading in, reaching self-actualization. This means knowing yourself, knowing your strengths and weaknesses, knowing your self-worth and maintaining a moderate level of self-esteem—not criticising your imperfections but rather loving and catering to those imperfections. Flourishing means to feel good about who are and who you’ve become. And knowing how to apply that to all aspects of life; work space, in a community, in education etc.
At my age where there is room for fulfilment but have not achieved all my goals, it is hard to say that I have flourished but rather I say, I am in the process of flourishing. With that said, I think when you’re in that stage of ‘progressing flourishment’, to achieve authenticity and wholeness; you need to be a helper, someone that acquires empathy, UPR and great listening skills.

Whether we are the helpers or those being helped we learn to listen, empathise, be authentic and this ensures growth in flourishment. I like to look at it like a flower, in order for a flower to flourish it needs to be cared for, needs to be watered daily and needs the right amount of sunlight, in that same breathe the person helping the flower flourish also flourishes in the sense, that the person takes the time to want to care for the flower, gives it water and nourishment, which makes them happy and empathetic, willing to take time to help something grow and flourish, so the flourishment progresses in both
