This may be true but yet many still choose to move away from the islands to start a new life in the mainland. Some may say this is odd, but that is before they understand the reasoning behind it. It is difficult to support a family financially well in Hawaii, traffic is one of the worst in the country, and the crime for drugs is huge.…

Hawaii was important to the United States for its military potential, as well as many economic reasons such as its rich agrarian industry. Without Hawaii, the United States would have had to negotiate more for navy bases from which it could launch aquatic assaults on the Axis Powers and Japan. This significantly increased our participation in World War II, while decreasing our debt to other nations for allowing us to use their ports. The first settlers of the islands were probably Polynesians from Tahiti.…

Beautiful beaches, tropical fruits, amazing volcanoes and an aesthetic view, that description makes many people think of the beautiful Hawaii. What some people don’t know is the history of how Hawaii became a part of the USA. Hawaii was annexed by having to overthrow its leader, and by destroying its government. “In January 1893, the planters staged an uprising to overthrow the Queen. At the same time, they appealed to the United States armed forces for protection” (ushistory.org). Many people debate on the justification of this action. They believe it was an injustice to Hawaii and its people, but really it was a justified action. It was justified because this act brought a lot of profit for America, it was imperialism (social darwinism), and if America had not annexed Hawaii another country most likely would have. The annexation of Hawaii was a justified action by the American Government.…

My great great great grandfather migrated to Hawaii during the colonial period (1900’s) due to cheap labor. He was recruited as a sugar cane farmer. He believed that the island offered better opportunities, a paradise of happiness and prosperity.
