Explain Why The Age To Be Determined As Adults Should Be 17-19
Have you ever thought about what the age to become an adult should be? Some people think the age to become an adult should change while others don’t but some kids have different opinions on when they should become the age of an adult. The age to become an adult should be 17-19, and people should be able to have a say in it.

The age should be 17-19, because It doesn’t seem right to make the legal age just 18 why not 17-19? Teenagers should be allowed to be determined as adults from the ages of 17-19 in all states because after 16 they have jobs and cars to drive with, and would soon be taught how to pay bills after the age of 18. “Teenagers should be allowed to be determined as adults from the ages of 17-19“ I think this because as i said they would already have a job and cars to drive with at the age of 16, and they would soon be learning about how to pay bills after a few years. It’s important for others to know this because they should be able to vote about what age kids shall be determined as adults. Paragraph one does not yet prove my claim but the fact that the age for kids to become adults it 17-19 because of two certain reasons including their working life.

Kids and adults should be able to vote on what age they should become an adult, it just seems right instead of the government choosing. “Kids and adults should be able to vote on what age they should become an adult” They should be able to do this because then it’s not only them saying what it should be but the government too. The meaning of the quotation is just as I say meaning people besides the government should be allowed to vote the age for kids to become adults. In all this paragraph proves my claim because people besides the government should have a say on the age to become an

I disagree with Leon Botstein's essay "Let Teenagers Try Adulthood". Botstein argues that teenagers have matured much more quickly over the past few years. Therefore, he believes high school be abolished and a child's education should begin earlier in order for students to graduate around the age of sixteen rather than eighteen. High school is intended for students of a certain maturity level. But now, students are exceeding that level rapidly. Botstein sees high school as a place full of superficial, adolescent teenagers that care more about appearances, popularity, cliques and sports than education. Because they have reached a high maturity level at such a young age already, there are many students that are wasting their junior and senior years away in high school rather than starting college. I disagree with Botstein however. High school is a transition period for students to learn how to take on more responsibilities. It is the time for teenagers to become more social and independent. While I do agree with Botstein on his point of maturity levels growing faster, I don't agree that students should be graduating earlier than they currently are. Not all students are capable of the same things. Most high school students are not prepared to enter into adulthood just yet. They still need someone to guide them along a path until they've graduated. Age restrictions are applied to the youth community for a reason. The majority of teenagers are not ready to handle the responsibilities that come their way. The legal age for drinking is 21 because of safety concerns as well as the responsibility that comes with the consumption of alcohol. Fortunately for Texas, teenagers are able to obtain their drivers license at the age of sixteen, but other states, like California, have citizens wait until they are eighteen to obtain their license with the same privileges as a sixteen year old from Texas. Responsibilities are tough to handle, even for an adult. So why have the same…

Summary Response The article “ Kids are kids until they commit crimes ” by Marjie Lundstrom talks about how the under-eighteen crowds are considered kids .Yet when they commit a crime or start acting inadequately they start considering them as adults and they start receiving the consequences an adult would have . Many people do not consider this fair .That is why Ron Wilson ,Democratic State Rep. of Houston suggested to lowering the voting age to fourteen . He also said that “if you want to throw the adult book at kids”(paragraph 8) and give them the consequences of an adult then they can be able to vote too and do things an adult does. This article also talks about how people have created an image that teenagers are something to…

In the Article Kids Are Kids-Until They Commit Crimes by Marjie Lundstrom, Democratic State rep. Ron Wilson stated “You want to throw an adult book at kids? Lower the voting age to fourteen (87). Wilson is raising the issue that the judicial system will deem kids to be kids for alcohol drinking or voting until they are of proper age, but they are treated as an adult if they murder someone. Little does the judicial system know that they are robbing these kids of their chance of having a second chance. Lundstrom makes a clear statement that when more and more kids are sent to an adult prison, more lives are lost and these kids will not have anyone to guide them to the right path ever…

When walking down the street there is an eight-year-old sitting on the side of the street crying, with dirty, ripped clothing. The young child is nothing but skin and bones from not eating for a week. If there was not a set age for becoming an adult this would be a common scene. The law recognizes an 18-year-old as an adult. If there was not a set age for adulthood, parents could stop caring for their children at young ages. The law requires parents to care for their children up to the age 18. If adulthood was recognized based on maturity, a parent could say their kid was mature at age eight. Yet, the kids aren’t allowed to work until age fourteen. This could leave the kids in starvation, and critical life situations. Therefore, kids become…

In 1987 the United States passed a law mandating all states to have a twenty-one year old alcohol purchase age. This means over half of college students are not legal to buy alcohol. College kids are college kids though, and one way or another they are going to get their alcohol. Many people, myself included, believe that the legal drinking age should be changed from twenty-one to eighteen. “An 18-year-old is afforded, among other things, the right to vote, the right to marry, and the ability to serve in the military” (Engs, Heath, Levine, Smith). In the United States an eighteen year old is considered an adult, yet eighteen year olds are not completely treated like adults. They should be able to make their own choices at this age, and buying and consuming alcohol is one of these choices. Even with all the arguments, the legal…

After people in the United States reach the age of eighteen, they are no longer considered to be juvenile; but are now legally considered to be adults. At this age, one is able to lay down their life for their country, they are allowed to get married, allowed to vote and legally able to buy cigarettes and/or tobacco. At this age, if an individual is able to have all of these rights, why…

Do teens usually wait till the age of eighteen to begin consuming alcohol? If eighteen years of age is the legal age for adulthood, why can’t it be the legal age to begin drinking? Is the government contradicting themselves? Over the years studies have shown that most teens do not wait until the age of twenty-one to begin drinking. Lowering the drinking age to eighteen would allow eighteen to twenty year-olds to drink alcohol in safe places with supervision. Keeping teens from drinking in unsafe environments would lower the amount of drinking related car accidents. Also, individuals are viewed as adults at the age of eighteen. There are many privileges and responsibilities all within the realm of that adulthood. Eighteen year olds are allowed to smoke, be married, vote and more so why isn’t drinking on that list? I believe the legal age for drinking should be lowered to eighteen in order to provide a safe environment for teens, decrease the amount of drinking related accidents, and give eighteen year-olds the full amount of adulthood.…

Throughout, history the question that is always brought up is “what should the legal drinking age be”? Many people argue that it should stay as is, twenty one and older and others debate the legal drinking age should be lower than twenty one, for example, eighteen. I personally, think the legal drinking age should not be changed, and it should remain the same at age twenty one. For this argument there are many pros and cons to both sides. Although, I think keeping the drinking age at twenty one out weights the pros for lowering the drinking age to a lower age such as eighteen.…

I believe at the age of 18 you’re an adult. You don’t need to be considered and adult when you can by alcohol or go to the casino. You can be considered and adult when you’re able to supply for yourself without anyone else’s help. You’re not an adult if you just go party and spend all your money on beer and other non-important things. You’re an adult when you’re able to supply for yourself and your family without asking others for help. I believe at age 18 you’re considered an adult because you know the difference between right and wrong and you can support…

If age 18 is legally considered an adult, why can't they drink alcohol? In 1984 the drinking law was changed from 18 to 21(Procon.org), since then there has been a 13% rise in car accidents due to under age drinking , 300 deaths and 2,100 homicides per year due to under age drinking. Therefore I believe the age to consume alcohol should be lowered to a younger age. At age 18 you are legally considered an adult, you are able to join the military, get married and even start taking classes to run for president of the United States, but you can't have a drink at the end of the day, is that fair for the 18 to 20 year old age group to wait that long?…

The twenty-one restriction look as if it’s out of date in today’s society. Many guardians of today’s teenagers were legally permitted to drink at the age of eighteen. Teenagers today face more responsibility and are treated much differently from the way their parents were treated. If twenty-one is considered so mature, then why is eighteen considered an adult? At the age of eighteen, an individual can vote, serve on a jury, stay out without a curfew, leave home, drive,…
