If a self-obsessed conversationalist is at some socializing event they might talk about themselves too much.
According to the article The Conversationalist Narcissit by Alethia Luna believes that there is two the types of conversationalist: The active conversational narcissist & The passive conversational narcissists. In Luna's article she states that the active conversationalist narcissist always end up changing the conversation to about them. They make this shift by making “ supportive responses” so they don't look rude. She also states that a passive conversational narcissist will often make statements like “ok”, “hmm, or things like “that's awesome”. When they say these types of statements they will show disinterest so the conversation will end up dying. If the self-obsessed conversationalist is a trying to meet new people at a party, when they talk to people they can over share things that the other person might not care
about. Everyone who has some kind of social media has seen narcissistic traits, even if they don't realize that they are. Social media provides a platform where people can about themselves all they want. I have seen some social media accounts where the used talks about important issues around the world, but most of the time I see people talking irrelevant things, such as what they ate for lunch. Social media has made people care too much about about followers, favorites, likes, or other things that make them feel better themselves. Another thing that social media has caused is self-obsession. Such as taking too many photos of oneself, making things about themselves, and not caring about others. Social media has also given people a place to seek attention and admiration. Some people might use social media to post pictures of themselves and crave comments that compliments them and wanting a lot of likes so they can feel better about themselves.
All in all, I'm not saying that social media is bad. It's a great place to meet new people and share happy memories with people you don't get to see often. However, some people use social media to self-promote
