Going through WIOS, I was able to access WIOS through Edmonds Community College library which had a link which then directed me to input my credentials and I was able to take several assessments like the Work Importance Locator which measured my work values. managerial positions from the general operations managers to secretarial managers. On interest profiler test I scored high on investigative and social careers. Going through Primary interest assessment I scored high on Social and investigative careers.
A typical day working as a sonographer, I would start of by either performing clerical duties, evaluating ultrasound equipment, operating a transducer and recording the results for the physician to interpret.
In an event I have a patient, I will need to ensure that the ultrasound machine to be used set to accommodate the patient and if needed make the necessary changes, after all the settings are calibrated, I will ask the patient to confirm their demographics, I will then explain the procedure to the patient and then give them a set of instructions to follow, then give the patient the opportunity to ask any questions they might have.
After the testing is done, I will explain to the patient to follow up with the ordering physician. Then I will walk the patient out to the waiting area or to the door.
After taking the assessments the conclusion I came to was that Social, Investigative, Conventional and Enterprising Careers, might be the right path to follow in the fact that I like to figure out how things work rather than lead people, I love to be of service to other people rather than be on the receiving end, I tend to follow a set of procedural routines, however I also hate following strict rules or dealing with a bunch of paperwork....
WIOS did help me in deciding the right path because it pointed towards specific careers that matches my interest, values, skills and
abilities.
