The “sexual content” in the book does not go into any details. Besides when Miss Baker is referred to as small breasted. In the bible Jesus turned water into wine. Most people rejoiced. Alcohol is a known refreshment in society. especially in the 1920’s. you cannot blame F. Scott Fitzgerald's book for being historically correct. The 1920’s is also known as the jazz era, and it's also known as the prohibition era. It's the era with ; gangsters,booze,money,power mongers, and speakeasies. So again why blame a book that is teaching us about our history in an more entertaining way. If you really get into the book you can see how the main idea is more than just a “love triangle” as you would say. The main idea is less romantic than it seems. the “Gatsby” is symbolic to the whole era of partying, etc. Gatsby is simply a representation of the 1920’s.
So again, no this book should not have been banned. A lot of books that are on the banned book list is ridiculous, but than again i can not help that others are illiterate. “The Great Gatsby” may have had profanity but in all honesty, words that people take offensively should not be a big enough deal to prohibit a book. Also the explicit content was totally taken out of proportion i think, and the partying and alcohol use was popular back
