INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
Nowadays, almost everyone connects through social networking sites. I¶ve heard people tell an acquaintance, ³Yeah, I think I¶ve seen you in (insert site here)!´. Surprisingly, that gets the conversation going especially if you share the same interests as your New Found Friend (Villaraza, 2007).
Nowadays, online networking is not only about friendship, but also about different possibilities which it provides to its users. Friendster, which is one of the social networking sites to look for friends, ones dominates Philippines in terms of social networking but as we go to the trend, Filipinos have moved on to Facebook, which is currently the biggest and the most popular among social networking sites (Abaño, 2010).
It is said that Facebook had become a part of our life. Facebook provides features which gives benefits to its users. However, as we are getting hooked to Facebook, becoming a Facebook addict is inevitable. ³Facebook is just so addictive, it¶s better to get logged on than to finish my project in the morning´, a classmate of mine said (Villaraza, 2007).
Hence, the researchers seek for the objectives why most Filipinos are hooked on Facebook.
