What Factors are Most Important to Your Job Satisfaction

After thorough review of the 21 job factors or attributes important to job satisfaction, I found job security to be at the top of my list. In the troubled economic times our nation is facing today, job security is extremely hard to come by for many people. According to an article called “Living with a Lack of Job Security”, many of the factors that contribute to lack of security are “globalization, outsourcing, contracting, downsizing, recession and even natural disaster (Mind Tools, nd). Having a job where I can go to everyday and not feel threatened by the fact it could end soon is most satisfying. The second key factor for job satisfaction is the benefits provided by my employer. I am fortunate to have an employer who provides an array of benefits, such as, medical, dental, vision, life insurance for the entire family (including the pets), 401k contribution up to a 6% match, short and long term disability, and much more. As an individual who has a multitude of health issues, the medical insurance in itself is a huge financial relief. The third key factor I find most necessary for job satisfaction is the compensation/pay. There are advantages an employer offers by providing a well designed compensation and benefits package to employees. Employees who are offered a compensation package are more satisfied, motivated, have less absentees, a peace of mind, and the package helps to increase their self-confidence (Nazer, nd). As the primary bread winner for my family, I have to be able to support my husband and two children to ensure a roof over our heads and food on the table. The fourth key factor for the satisfaction of my job is the flexibility to balance life and work issues. As
