Failure In The Baseball Field
In the sport of baseball,. an above average player is seen when their batting average is above .300, in other words, getting a hit 3 out of every 10 at-bats. Above is considered a great player, and below is a below-average player. The same can be said in school as in the sport of baseball. A majority will be considered average, but you have the select few that fall on either side of the spectrum, almost as a bell curve. I am lucky enough to be on the right side, as an above average person in all facets I face, of which I owe a substantial amount of this to my first and greatest love, baseball. My journey through baseball has gone an unconventional route, but I too have witnessed my own downfall within the sport, but I was able to rebound off of a failure into personal triumph. It is detrimental to every aspiring college student that he or she is able to stare failure in the eye, and not accept failure for themselves. My time on the baseball field culminated in my expert ability to rebound through failure in multiple aspects of my life. …show more content…
Failure will occur to everybody, but how I was able to conquer my physical failure makes me stand apart. Many people would not consider me a very in shape person compared to those on the field; but as so in life I was willing to work at improving my weaknesses. Over the course of my 3 years playing baseball, I have consistently worked out and lost a majority of body fat, replacing a majority with toned, strong muscle mass. Being able to experience this endeavor has prepared me for life by proving that I can accomplish whatever I set my mind

During the 1990’s baseball was facing some of the most monumental challenges ever “The realignment issue and its impact on the Chicago Cubs were still in litigation. National television revenues, which had been growing by leaps and bounds, were poised to take a severe dip (as it turned out the next year, by more than 50 percent). Attendance at games fell by 1.6 percent in 1992, with eighteen of the twenty-eight teams experiencing drops. A 1992 Gallup survey showed that MLB now lagged the NFL in popularity by a more than 2 to 1 margin. With the emergence of local cable TV revenues and new ballparks, team revenue disparities were growing rapidly and engendering consternation among the owners. Average player salaries had just passed…

In my essay, I went over how I overcome failure on a daily basis, and how I made the best out of a bad situation. The quote, “When life gives you bad hops, make great plays,” describes the situation with my back injury. This is because when the injury occurred I didn’t get down on myself I turned it into an opportunity to try new things, and to have fun supporting my team. I also described how I overcome failure on a daily basis by keeping a positive…

Baseball season is the most exciting time of the year! It is warm out, people are cooking burgers, and chewing sunflower seeds, there is nothing better! You can imagine my disappointment when I had to miss almost the entire first part of the season. There is nothing better than playing with a team that loves baseball as much as you do. When I was cleared to play in the playoffs in Rapid City, I was ecstatic. I was also really anxious to get my first game out of the way.…

Baseball is what many people call, “America’s Sport.” Many enjoy setting in front of their television, with a bag of chips and a cold drink while they watch their favorite professional team. People become fans for different reasons; some enjoy being outside, hanging out with friends or eating a stadium hot dog. There is a group of people that find baseball to be more than that. For them it brings them back to a time of playing with their “buddies,” going to get ice cream after the big win or maybe it’s memory of playing baseball when they were young, because after all little league baseball, is first and foremost meant to be fun.…

People say everyone's a winner. I really didn’t believe that when I was little. So when I was still playing tee-ball (baseball that little kids play with a tee) and I was in the championship game, I was going for blood. It was late 2008 and I was playing for the GBSF (Green Baseball Softball Federation) team named “The Aeros.” We wore purple, black and had the Akron Aeros baseball team’s logo embroidered on our hats. So anyway, this particular season, we “Titans of Tee-Ball” went undefeated. I believe we went 14-0 or something like that. It was a very crazy season, especially the championship game; but we will get back to that later. I faintly remember one particular game…

Failure is not something an individual can avoid. We all make mistakes because we are imperfect. Thus, we need to look at ways that help us overcome a situation we had failed at. According to “Rich in Thought: Not every Olympian Gets a Medal” by Richard Paloma, he states,” Mistakes are tools for learning- not indicators of poor ability” (paragraph 7). Whether it’s losing a soccer game, failing a test, or coming last in a race we all have failures. Three ways that I have made a mistake, but learned from it are failure’s on a school history final, the loss of my soccer game, and stealing from Target.…

A time when I experienced extreme failure was when I was in my sophomore year of high school. When I started the year, I had the mindset of, “This is going to be easy. I’m not going to sweat it.” Reason being, in my freshman year, I passed all my classes easily and I thought the next school year would be the same. I was in for a rude awakening by then. It was my first year starting an AP class and I heard stories that it was going to be easy if one paid attention in class. As the first semester went, it was a struggle already. I had easily underestimated the workload and found myself barely passing with a C. I have the type of personality where I put a lot of pressure on myself and stress out easily; as one can imagine, I was very hard on myself.…
