Fallacies In Dysparennus Summary
In Erwin J. O. Kompanje’s journal article, Painful Sexual Intercourse Caused by a Disproportionately Long Penis: An Historical Note on a Remarkable Treatment Devised by Guilhelmius Fabricius Hildanus (1560–1634), he describes a case study where Guilhelmius Fabricius Hildanus attempts to solve a patients dyspareunia due to her husband’s abnormally large genitalia. Kompanje first includes an introduction where he informs the reader about the case history of ‘Pain and infertility caused by a too large penis.’ Then, he provides the reader with a briefs biography of Hildanus. Then he goes more in depth in regards to the case study. Then ends with a discussion with point out the fallacies in Hildanus’s case study and add his recommendations to solve the women’s dyspareunia and infertility. In his introduction he states the origins of the case study. Kompanje then provide a brief biography of Hildanus. He was born on June, 25th 1560 in Hilden, Germany as Wilhelms Fabry. He started training in surgery when he was 15. He married Marie Colinet, a female surgeon, who assisted many of his surgeries. Hildanus traveled a lot but was still able to publish ten books on a numerous of subjects.
