The government is the leader of the civilization. His job is to make sure that no one escapes the civilization or get hurt. Also, the military was organized by the head of the military. The government gives the order to the captain, and then the captain gives order to the soldiers. The government of Falling Skies’ is similar to the U.S. government by giving orders and making sure that the civilian is okay. It is so important to rebuild the government and the military after the disaster because the freedom and the country that people have are very important. Once, the soldiers fought to retain the country and its freedoms. Therefore, it is so important to rebuild the government and the military, after the disaster.

of Rights, it will make the new United States a perfect union.
One of the way that the new government is failing because the leader doesn’t take the civilian's opinions or thoughts in consideration. In fact, the leader wanted to keep the numbers of civilians just the way they are. In addition, the new government is failing by not keeping eyes on the civilian. For instance, there were some jerks that wanted to be the leader.
The traditional of U.S. value that is still strong in the new U.S. is family values. For instance, Mason’s and his family are still together regardless. However, one of Mason’s son was missing, so Mason wanted to go out and find his son. However, the leader of the civilization wouldn’t let him go out, but Mason tried until he met his son again. Therefore, family values are still strong in the new U.S.
New Charleston goes under martial law because some of the civilian decided to escape. For instance, Mason’s and his group of friends tried to escape the civilization. A martial law is when a military government involved in whatever event that may happen (such as Mason’s and his group of friends intention of escaping the civilization).
It is okay to disobey commands or the government when you feel like the government is taking control and being harsh on you. For instance, in Falling Skies, the leader was being harsh to Tom’s wife. He implies that he will murder the civilian if it necessary. Therefore, it is appropriate to disobey the government when the government is being harsh on you.
The similarities between Falling Skies and In the After is that both civilizations have to fight against aliens and the forming of a new civilization.
There was also a group of a gang (jerks) whose intention was to become the leader. In Alas, Babylon, there were military involve just like in Falling Skies. In addition, people within the society or the civilization wanted to become a leader, which is very common after a disaster. However, the differences between the In the After, Falling Skies, and Alas, Babylon, is that the setting and the plots are different. As time passes, I think the civilization in Falling Skies will be most successful because Tom’s son is friends with the aliens. Therefore, the aliens and the human can work together as time passes. The two novels and the show demonstrate the common characteristics of the post-apocalypse by civilian working together to form equality and
security.
