Family Nurse Practitioner Research Paper
My desire to pursue a career in Family Care Nurse Practitioner is driven by education, life, and work experiences. I consider myself a lifelong student of learning, and this is one of the reasons why I enjoy nursing so much. I did not know at the time, but the experience of following a Family Care Nurse Practitioner at University of Louisville Hospital inspired me to seek a career as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a hospital. I was inspired because this Nurse Practitioner provided care to a range of patients of all ages, genders, and ethnicity, as well as with the full range of medical problems in a hospital environment.
My path to becoming a nurse spans over a lifetime. Nursing has always been something I wanted to do, but life had other

I have many qualities that will make me an excellent Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner. I am a respected, empathetic, a quick learner and can reason to quickly in crisis. My adaptability has enabled me to cross train in the emergency department, where I use critical thinking skills to give the best outcomes for my patients. I strive to treat others with respect, compassion, and understanding. As a result, I am the type of nurse that treats every patient like they are my family or friends who are sick. I love caring for people and efficiently taking care of their healthcare needs. Professionally, I keep a very high level of autonomy and responsibility. Over the years, I have taken on more roles beyond staff nurse and have stepped up to take on higher-level duties and responsibilities. For example, I am a member of the Falls Committee and a preceptor for Bachelors of Nursing students. I have also served on the unit- based council and conducted peer reviews. I was a recipient of the Daisy Award, a patient nominated program to recognize exceptional and hard-working nurses. This patient recognized me for consistently showing excellence through my clinical ability, and that I am extraordinarily compassionate. This reminds me that the simplest act of kindness may seem small to others, but to patients these simple acts can make a big

Recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine that Advanced Nurse Practitioners provide cost efficient treatment and as competent as physicians. However, physicians and Advanced Nurse Practitioners have different roles but complement each other in patient quality care. My personal nursing mission statement is changing and developing as my career advances, however, one core piece will remain constant. I will strive to provide the best, safest, most ethical and compassionate nursing care that I can for all patients and family members with whom I come in contact. I began my post-high school academic career as an accounting major. I enjoyed the challenge of manipulating a report until I had balanced. I thought I had found my calling. As my first semester was nearing an end, I found myself contemplating the thought of sitting behind a desk all day. I wondered if I would find fulfillment in this work as a career? The more I pondered this thought, the more I realized that this was not the right career path for me. I saw images of the medical assistant program in the catalog at the school where I was attending. I could not shake the thought of the medical field for a profession. I attained my medical assistant degree and worked in the field for 10 years. The longer I worked, the more I realized that there was more that I wanted to do, but my current degree restricted me from going further. I researched nursing school programs and selected one with a night/weekend program that would allow me to continue working full-time during my studies. I have a family that I needed to continue to provide for and this seemed to be the best fit. My nursing school decision was fortified when I was selected for an award by the nursing faculty from all four semesters for excellence in the clinical setting. After graduation, I began my nursing career working as a case manager for orthopedic worker’s compensation patients. During this time I gained critical knowledge of the importance of clear documentation, the ever-changing requirements of insurance companies and an extra measure of compassion for…

Healthcare abounds with occupations dedicated to serving a variety of populations. Each profession has distinct qualities that warrant specific talents. As the daughter of a Registered Nurse, I saw first-hand the characteristics nursing required. Though I enjoyed learning about the human body, I knew nursing was not my calling. My initial educational goals and work experience were directed towards becoming a marriage and family therapist. After I finished my Associate's degree and married, I postponed my education to focus on raising my children. During this period, I judiciously considered my career options as I transitioned from a young woman focused on discovering her purpose to a wife and mother with a family depending on her guidance, support, and affection. Switching gears at this point seemed daunting because the risks transcended the investment of time and money. The requirements to successfully complete…

Kimberly, Thank you for your post. In my capstone paper I presented a paper about teaching a subject on cultural diversity for nurses. I want this class to be an in-service class just like yours. A 45 minutes class and not a 4-8 week semester class would be best for me to teach. I am not ready to teach beyond 45 minutes. I think teaching comes with time and experience. I would not like to give a boring lecture, but a person has to start somewhere. Sorry about the way things are happening at your work place, but you will overcome and succeed. A prior class on capstone fundamentals would have enlighten me on how to write a capstone that is agreeable.…

I have been motivated by such a person during my clinical periods, which have actually inspired to pave the path towards what I want to be. Fortunately, I got to work along with a nurse practitioner whose knowledge, skills, resources, and dedication to her work, encompasses everything that I have envisioned as a nurse practitioner. I have watched her work with the residents, providing them with support and education about their illnesses and helping them with their concerns was inspiring. Her humbleness was seen being supportive and helpful to the student nurses. She would believe that it is important to focus on the whole patient picture, such as their support systems, stressors, financial concerns and everything going on in their lives as these have a huge impact on patients. Surely, her positive attitude towards her job, and her compassion concerning patients made her gain…
