Family Of Country People By Louis Nain

The first painting that I find an interest in to describe its historical and cultural contend is called the Family of Country People. This artwork was painted by Louis Le Nain in the year ca. 1640. Louis was a French artist who also took an interest in painting genre of everyday life like Dutch. A great example of his principle is displayed in the Family of Country People. He painted a peasant family or people work the soil. He included three adults and five children in his work, and they all look hungry and tired. This painting remains me of the high Renaissance paintings because the figures emotions are contained and balanced. As poor as these peasants were during the thirty year war, they still managed to their frustrations that came along with their job or erheps the artist want us to think that
In the far right corner of the painting there is a boy seated on the floor with no shoes on, next to him is a little girl standing behind her mom’s chair as if she was shy of getting her picture taken. The mother is seated with her hand rapped together and she stares directly at the viewer. A man is seated opposite the woman seated at what appears to be a dinning table. A boy with a rapped shirt and pants with also no shoes stands in the center of the painting to play his flute. On the left side of the painting is an older woman with a half full vase with wine in her hand, she tries to pour some in the glass, but it's not enough for everybody. Behind her are two little boys standing by the fire to warm up. The artist included still life along with descriptive realism of particulars. The vase is an example, fluo, the plate on the table with pets in his painting. There is a basket on the floor by a cooking spoon and pot. I think what Louis was trying to portray about peasant is that they are good and valuable members of society, even though they are poor and lives in harsh
