Family Strengths Framework Analysis
In regards, to the family strengths framework I chose to evaluate my family of procreation. My family of procreation consist of my daughter, my boyfriend, and myself. First, on the list of Family Strengths Framework is commitment. I believe that my family has a clear understanding of commitment. For instance, though my boyfriend and I are not married we have established that we will not have any relations; rather it’s mentally or physically, with anyone else. We both have a commitment to our daughter to be her parents no matter what happens between us. This was proven when we decided to take a break in our relationship. During the time of our break he was still consistent in our daughter’s life and so was I. Next, in the family strengths framework …show more content…
I will admit that in order for me to have positive communication I have to be in a good mood. If I am not in a good mood I can become rude. The things that contribute the most to my mood is if I am tired or hungry. My boyfriend usually demonstrates positive communication, but if I am not doing the same he will not either. My daughter usually has positive communication, but at the same time she is short tempered because of her being a toddler. Hopefully, the older she gets the longer she is able to demonstrate positive communication during a conversation. Enjoyable time together is another step in the family strengths framework. Enjoyable time together is something my family does well. We make sure to have a date night and night designated towards something my daughter likes every week. Even at home we watch television together, play with my daughter, etc. We look forward to being around each other and enjoying each other’s conversation; without any hassle. I believe my family’s biggest weakness is spiritual well-being. Our schedules are very busy making it impossible to attend church and be a part of our church community. We also do not pray together. I like to pray by myself and believe that is the same for my boyfriend. I hope in the future that we are able to have a better spiritual well-being as a

The right kind of communication such as listening, open ended questions, calm tone of voice, complements, encouragement and “I” statements help bring people together and create good relationships on a meaningful level. If people lack the ability to communicate well, they can limit their ability to connect with others and at the extreme can create conflict. Relationships within the workplace thrive on people being able to communicate effectively what it is that they need and the recipient being able to respond efficiently and competently.…

The purpose of this paper is to incorporate one family's experience of living with multiple chronic illnesses into the Calgary Family Assessment Model (CFAM) and Rolland's Chronic Health Challenge Framework. CFAM was developed by Dr. Lorraine M. Wright, a professor Emeritus of nursing and by Dr. Maureen Leahey, a manager of a mental health outpatient program both have over 25 years experience while still managing to supervise, teach, consult, write, and maintain a part-time clinical practice in individual, couple, and family therapy (Moxie, 2007). CFAM allows nurses to assess families during interviews. CFAM is a multidimensional framework consisting of three major categories: structural, dimensional and functional. (Wright & Leahey, 2005) Each category has its own subcategories, with the ability to pull out family strengths, weaknesses and roles of possible resources the family has or may need. These topics help the nurse assess the family's perspectives at that particular moment in their lives and allows the nurse to help with any problems or challenges the family may face. The family interviewed was a gentleman living with cystic fibrosis, diabetes, life threatening asthma and metabolic myopathies. For confidentiality, each family members name has been changed. The gentleman living with the chronic illness will be named Bob Jones, Bobs mother will be named Sue Jones, Bobs girlfriend will go by Jane, and the 2 year old daughter will be named Anna.…

The family just recently moved to my neighborhood and we casually said hi to each other. I went to their house and introduced myself and informed them of my intentions. I explained to the family that I was going to perform a family assessment and that this was about assessing the family processes and interactions and identifying both the weak and strong points in the family. I further discussed with the family that the purpose for this assessment was purely academic, confidentiality will be maintained and no diagnostic tests of any kind will be made. Permission was given before scheduling the interview and verified again prior to start. This was verbally consented and there was no need to sign any papers.…

Her daughter, Susie, who is married with three school-aged children, agrees to let her mother move in with her. Susie is concerned with balancing the demands of her career and the needs of her family, especially now that her elderly and chronically ill mother will need assistance. She is also unsure about how she feels with the reversal of roles, having to now be the primary caregiver of her mother. How can the nurse, caring for this family, assist with the changes they are about to undergo? How can both the family structural theory and the family developmental theory be applied to this scenario? How can health education enhance health promotion for this family? My family encompasses such a multitude of strengths, that it’s difficult to pinpoint which ones bring about the most positivity. Personally, I would argue that loyalty is the quintessential strength within my family. Each of us knows our family members will always look out for us and provide whatever they can to enhance our own sense of happiness. My family also spends gargantuan levels of time together. Without spending this quality time together, we’d have no way of furthering, strengthening, and maintaining our relationships with one another. If you’re not willing to take an interest in your family members lives and vice-versa, there’s no chance of establishing a strong relationship with one another. More specifically, within my family, I maintain relationships using different strengths with different members. For example, my mom has always shown the utmost respect towards honesty. No matter what I’ve done, as long as I’m honest with her, our relationship stays strong. My sister on…

July 12, 2006 and April 7, 2009, were the two days that had sent me into a emotional state of mind that I will never forget. “We only realize how much someone means to us, when they are no longer with us.” -Ryan Garst. Growing up as a child, I was taught to be a leader and an example for my peers and the people that I’d soon be acquainted with. My parents had already taught me all of the necessary skills about being a leader. An example was to never be a follower, following a crowd of people could lead you down the wrong path in life. The same words were also said by two more people that really set it in stone for me: Mrs. Sanford (babysitter), and Cheryl Denise Burgess (grandmother).…
