Rationings were not helpful for those who needed more resources. Many barely had food or clothing to last them for a day, you weren’t allowed to bribe everyone would get one certain thing and that was it. Once World War II ended rationings ended as well. With the men coming back from war the women focused on their suburban role as homemaker, they looked for clothing that was easy to wash and keep neat.
