Fast Food
Fast Foods Effects on Us Before the mid 1900’s, when people were hungry they would cook at home or sit down at a local restaurant. However, the restaurants back then would not be a part of a huge chain, but more like a mom and pop business. Now, present day, when you’re driving down the road and start to feel hungry, what do you do? You stop off at the closest fast food joint of course! With the explosion of the fast food industry, it has caused many: lifestyle, family, health and money conveniences and issues. There are many reasons why fast food has become so popular. They market the food to “help out” our lifestyle, money and fit in with modern life along with a bunch of other stuff. When working long hours, especially with both parents at work, it seems ideal and easier to just stop and pick up food. Since fast food has expanded so much it has grown to give us a variety of different foods to choose from. Rich or poor, each fast food place caters to everyone. Most fast food places have value meals and a dollar menu, which makes it easier on people that don’t have as much money to get more bang for their buck. Then, you can’t forget kids’ meals. Not only do they consist of the meal itself, but they come along with a cool toy!
With modern society everyone is always on the go. Fast food caters to this as well. Look at Burger King for example; they created a fry holder to fit inside the cup holder in your car! They have made food and what the food comes in easier to eat on the move. Most fast food places have even started to put out nutrition facts about their products to make them seem as healthy as they can. Even with convenience that fast food restaurants create in our lives and their effort to try and seem healthy; it is also creating bad habits on society as well.
Fast food has come to create problems in households in several ways. One way it has affected us is interfering with our families and lifestyle. We already spend less time with our families due

Convenience, low prices, and the dramatic lack of exercise are three main reasons why the majority of American children are overweight. I live in a small town and almost everywhere i go i always see more than one fast food restaurant and lots of advertising. With all of this fast food and advertisements on every block everywhere in town makes it very convenient, easy and comfortable to the point where it becomes a daily rather unhealthy fast food routine. It really must be in the modern day human nature that “faster is better” because with the food already prepped and ready to eat, all you really have to do is pay a simple fee for the “speedy service” of the fast food restaurant saving you time to cook yourself! Now you won’t be late for work or don’t even have to worry about your children being late for school or even going to school on an empty stomach.…

To be fair, the presence of fast food industry is fueled by a major change in the lifestyle of today’s generation. The advancement of technology and modern appliances has changed the way we live, harming us in some ways. We drive to work or school instead of walking or cycling. We sit in front of the computer or television for long hours instead of running at the neighborhood with friends. The same goes with our choice in diet. Rather than preparing meals in the kitchen, we would opt for a convenient and time-saving meal at the fast food restaurant (Nutracheck.co.uk, n.d., para. 9). Eating at fast food restaurants eventually becomes an acceptable trend in the current society even though most people are well aware that fast food is bad for them (Whatscookingamerica.net, 2002, On the Other Hand section, para. 2). This comes down to a matter of choice and individual’s responsibility. For our part, we decide on what we eat and we are responsible for our choice (Nutracheck.co.uk, n.d., para. 10). We are responsible for the choice we made, not the company that provides the food (Whatscookingamerica.net, 2002, On the Other Hand section, para. 2).…

Sarah Muntel also notes in her article Fast Food: Is it the Enemy (2012); “Most Americans are overscheduled and overcommitted and do not make time to plan or prepare meals. However, you can always find a fast food restaurant every time you turn the corner. Now you can choose from greasy burgers, crunchy tacos or a sugary drink at most intersections. Quick and easy foods are also cheap, which appeals to so many individuals. You can order dollar cheeseburgers, dollar sodas and supersize items for just pennies. People see a value in cheap food and get it with fast food and claim it is cheaper to eat at a restaurant than prepare a meal at home” (p. 34). Fast food has provided people with a quick and efficient way to fill…

Many problems are faced due to fast food.JUNK FOOD – MORE THAN A HEALTH HAZARD Dhawananbm ' 's article clearly points out all the ills and hazards about "junk food". I must say that we are all aware of how unhealthy these so called foods could be. Firstly there is a question about hygiene of the food outlet. Then there are issues about what it actually contains. That is why we call it junk in the first place. I am of the opinion that people often look at only the health hazards when it comes to “Junk Food" but I wish to submit to you some social issues that come with Junk Food. You may think that I am a bit extreme in my views and one of those fundamentalists and a prophet of doom. I am a fundamentalist yes but not a prophet by any means. I believe it was Emerson who said that home is not where you live but where people understand you. How very true. But our fast paced "life styles" fuelled by consumerism and materialism have brought about "dysfunctional families". We are all held bent in running the rat race and getting there fast. We want everything NOW. Fast cars, fast computers, instant coffee/tea, internet that download files instantly and "fast food", the list goes on. We have become like little children who cry out “I really don ' 't know what I want but I want it now!" Fast food is the natural by product of " I want it now society" No one wants to invest time on anything and even for relationships, which I consider it to be the single most important thing in our lives. One has to spend time with people to understand them- Our spouses, parents, children, relations, customers , employers etc. In the good old days the mother of the home got up early in the morning ( I am talking about an Asian household here) and prepared the breakfast almost in a religious and ceremonial manner. It was done with love and care. Our parents would offer the last minute advice which was sometimes quite important and sometimes simple and short but that which demonstrated the love…
