In 1954 Kroc sold milkshake mixers to the local McDonald’s Self-Service Restaurant which was one of his best customers. He was very curious about why the company needed eight machines at one location and then discovered the art of McDonald’s Speedee Service System. His vision then was to put McDonald’s on every busy intersection all across the land. Kroc accomplished this by convincing the Mac Donald brothers to sell him the right to franchise the company nationwide while they sat at home and collected the profits. They agreed and Kroc started to franchise the business nationwide.
With his new position in the business, Ray Kroc reached out to Walt Disney with a business proposal to have McDonald's set up in Walt Disney's new Disneyland development that was soon opening. Walt Disney responded asking Kroc to raise the price of McDonald's french fries from 10 ten cent to fifteen cent; where Disney would keep the extra nickel as collateral for McDonald’s concession at Disneyland. Kroc declined the offer because he didn't want to be disloyal to his loyal customers and the two men ventured off into their own directions.
