A father’s love

As I was checking the news feed of my Facebook account, one topic was really trending: Miracle in Cell No. 7. What's the fuss about this Korean movie? Miracle in cell no.7 immediately spread like a wild fire over the social media, people said it is a must watch movie and it will leave you sad and sobbing in the corner. I heard it over and over but I don’t know where and when to watch it because there’s a lot of school stuffs to attend to, I wasn’t able to attend the first or scheduled enrichment program session because I got sick for 4 days including that Saturday, that saddens me knowing I won’t be able to watch it with my blockmates but then I was given another chance, good thing my blockmates aren’t spoilers.

Miracle in Cell No. 7 is a touching and heart breaking movie about an intellectually handicapped father and his daughter. The story tells about how the father and the daughter love each other so much. The two of them lead a simple and happy life while Yesung’s father makes a living by working as a parking attendant at a local supermarket. But one day, when the police commissioner's young daughter dies in a strange accident, Yesung’s father is the one who happens to find her. He is falsely accused and sentenced to death for abduction, sexual assault, and murder of a minor. Ye-sung is sent to a childcare institution and Yesung’s father gets imprisoned and assigned to Cell No. 7, the harshest cell in a maximum security prison.

I felt pity for yesung’s father for the falsely outcome of the case even if friends tried to help him out of the false accusations because of bitterness of the commissioner for his daughter’s death, the commissioner threated yesung’s father to harm yesung if he didn’t claim he committed the crime. Yesung’s father got beaten and shamed, all of it just to protect his daughter. Also yesung in a very young age with no mother though the movie didn’t tell where her mother had gone, it saddens me she’d be orphan in a

Never have I woken up faster than getting a phone call at 1am saying, “I need you STAT to H4104!” Racing from the call room to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, I had a million thoughts running through my head. Why is the RN calling me STAT? Is the patient coding? Is the intra-aortic balloon pump I am responsible for not functioning? When I arrive, the patient’s pressures were spiraling downward and the surgeon said he must go back down for surgery. Adrenaline pumping through my veins, I realized this was not an emergency simulation I had been taught – this was real. As soon as we reach the OR, the patient went asystole. Immediately, anesthesia started injecting medications, the OR staff lined up to do compressions and I managed the balloon pump; we…

Students, APA formatting is not required, however, you are required to substantiate your responses and opinions with laws, cases, statutes, codes, regulations or anything else that gives credibility to your answers. Remember, this is a legal class. Also, remember to state issues, integrate facts, discuss both sides of an issue, thoroughly analyze each question in detail, and lastly, conclude, based upon your legal findings and premise. You can have more than one conclusion as long as you argue both sides of an issue. You don’t need one absolute conclusion. The most important thing in law would be your ability to see both sides, argue them, and present alternative conclusions based upon these factors.…

Throughout my life, I have noticed all kinds of resistance to laws. Whether there were peaceful resistance or a violent resistance, they each had different outcomes. I have noticed that peaceful resistance has a more positive response to it. People will still judge you for resisting in the first place but you will have more people willing to help you out and support your cause. In the most recent events, the Women March. Over thousands of women came together in different cities to fight for their rights. The marches were peaceful and it caused impact in some places. Celebrities came and showed their support as even they knew they were going to be safe. They weren't afraid to come show their support because it was a peaceful resistance not…

From 1954-1960 Father Knows Best was a top show on television. It started on the radio in 1949 and then debuted on CBS in October of 1954. The show took place post World War II in a town called Springfield. It was never stated what state the town was in but due to mentions of Altoona, a town in Pennsylvania, viewers are led to believe that it took place in Springfield, Pennsylvania, just fifteen minutes from where I live. This show was very popular because it was such an idyllic presentation of family life. Robert Young played Jim Anderson, the father of three who balanced his family and job as a salesman and manager of the General Insurance Company. Jane Wyatt acted as Margaret Anderson who was married to Jim and was a…

    Love, Your Only Mother

David Michael Kaplan Another postcard from you today, Mother, and I see by the blurred postmark that you're in Manning, North Dakota now and that you've dated the card 1961. In your last card you were in Nebraska, and it was 1962; you've lost some time, I see. I was a little girl, nine years old, in 1961. You'd left my father and me only two years before. Four months after leaving, you sent me—always me, never him—your first postcard, of a turnpike in the Midwest, postmarked Enid, Oklahoma. You called me "My little angel" and said that the sunflowers by the side of the road were tall and very pretty. You signed it, as you always have, "Your only mother." My father thought, of course, that you were in Enid, and he called the police there. But we quickly learned that postmarks meant nothing: you were never where you had been, had already passed through. in the wanderings only you understand. A postcard from my mother, I tell my husband, and he grunts. Well, at least you know she's still alive, he says. Yes. This postcard shows a wheat field bending in the wind. The colors are badly printed: the wheat's too red, the sky too blue—except for where it touches the wheat, there becoming aquamarine, as if sky and field could somehow combine to form water. There's a farmhouse in the distance. People must live there, and for a moment I imagine you do, and I could walk through the red wheat field, knock on the door, and find you. It's a game I've always played, imagining you were hiding somewhere in the postcards you've sent. Your scrawled message, as always, is brief: "The beetles are so much larger this year. I know you must be enjoying them. Love, your only mother." What craziness is it this time? my husband asks. I don't reply. Instead, I think about your message, measure it against others. In the last postcard seven months ago, you said you'd left something for me in a safety deposit box in Ferndale. The postmark was Nebraska, and there's no…

“I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you.” That is a line from a traditional wedding vow that two people who love each other say on their wedding day. Susan Mendus believes that a marriage vow is “a present intention to do something permanently, where that is distinct from having a permanent intention.” (Mendus, p. 238)…

Parents always want what is best for their children, regardless of culture or ethnicity. In The Joy Luck Club, by Amy Tan, and in "Life With Father" by Itabari Njeri, the parents express their parental methods upon their daughters. Children will all react differently to their parent's methods, as do Waverly, June, and Itabari, but they still share a common resentment for their parents. It is shown in the two stories how parental methods expressed to children can be misinterpreted, thus influencing the child's behavior.…

We are born like blank pieces of paper, waiting for the black and white to define our futures. With every encounter/relationship we develop, we are supposed to gain something. Shaped by our experience and relationships, the person that we are today is a direct result of the people that we allowed to be a part of the stage play called “Life”. There are two psychologists known for their work on observational or social learning: Albert Bandura and Julian Rotter. Reciprocal determinism is Bandura’s belief that cognitions, behaviors and the environment interact to produce personality. According to Rotter’s theory, prior learning experiences create cognitive expectances that guide behavior and influence the environment. The absence of a healthy father-child relationship negatively affects a person but anyone can overcome this hurdle and become truly successful in life. A father's role in the family is far more important than just being the breadwinner and male authority figure. There is a consensus among the experts in child and family studies that the father’s role in the family affects his children’s development (Lamb, 2003). A solid foundation is the minimal pre-requisite for well-rounded and productive children that should begin with the father. Research findings consistently reveal that warm and affectionate fathers not only can help their children develop positive self-esteem, but also influence the development of their children’s gender role behavior. Fathers play an enormous role in developing infants into healthy adults. According to Wendy Pan, the father child relationship is fundamentally important in its developmental process. The play that a father engages in, which tends to be more physical and spontaneous, contributes to healthy brain development in infants. As infants grow into small children, the role of play takes on broader meaning and value. It takes on the role of teaching the child problem solving, exploring limits, and goal oriented…
