August 29, 2014 My favorite place would be my Aunt’s house in Sampaloc, Manila. I’ve only lived there for a month but I like to think of it as my new home in the city.
A lot of things happened last summer and I was depressed. I was thirsty for a fresh start and a more positive outlook in life. When I realized I was going to study here in Manila and make the big move from the province to the city, I was absolutely terrified. When I saw the place where I would be staying at, I changed my mind. I knew I would make new memories, experience new things and broaden my horizons! The first time I rode a jeep alone, I felt like an independent teen finally conquering her greatest fears. In this house, all the little things like chores and studying felt like something that would help me reach self-actualization.
I would want to share to you the directions to go to my favorite place, I hope you like it as much as I do! Don’t worry, getting there is easy as pie.
From Room 213 in the CAL Building, just go to the ground floor and make your way to the nearest waiting shed you see, it would be the one full of UP students waiting for a jeep that would take them to their destination. In this case, your destination is Philcoa, just wait for a green jeep that has the sign Philcoa on its windshield. After boarding the jeep, wait for a couple of minutes and enjoy the scenery UP has to offer. You’d realize you’re near your destination when you see University Avenue which is now sadly aligned with dead sunflowers. After you go out the campus, the jeep’s last stop would be Philcoa (Petron Gasoline Station).
Once you get there, just wait for a UV Express Service or Jeep that would take you to Quiapo, UST España or Morayta. You can tell from the cute little signs on their windshields, and ‘Kuya’ driver is always eager for passengers! Board the UV Express Service or Jeep and stay alert! Enjoy the air conditioning or bask in the smell of sweat in the
