“Fear and Learning at Hoover Elementary” is the only film that left me speechless because there were many perspectives that were portrayed. Each person had their own opinion regarding Prop 187 and their reasoning behind their decisions, whether it was teachers or students. Throughout the film, a little girl name Myra was being recorded every so often, showing us around her house as well as her school and talking about her current life situation and who she wants to become in the future. She worked very hard to earn good grades in school hoping she would get into a good college and become a lawyer. I was happy to see that such a little girl had such high expectations and worked so hard at a young age. At one point, her mother could not pay the rent for the apartment that they live in, which caused them to sleep in an abandoned apartment. This made me very sad since her mother worked so hard but it was still not good enough. Her husband was murdered and all the pressure was on her to support her family. I felt that she was a great mother and doing her best for her daughter have a better life than she did when she was younger. Unfortunately, Myra, her mother and uncle moved back to El Salvador. The fact that Myra could not reach her goals since her mother had such a hard time supporting her, to the point where they had to move
