the feed is ultimately controlling all of the individuals that use it. Throughout the novel I became very self aware, I realized how attached I am to my electronic devices. The fact that I have an iPod, iPad, iPhone and a laptop and use these devices extensively throughout my day completely turned me off. The lack of interest in the characters and the way the novel was written made it difficult to complete the book however, the message that is portrayed is very powerful. It is a reflection of how our own society is becoming extremely consumed in technology.
The novel is based on a group of teenagers more specifically, the relationship between Titus and Violet. While Titus and his group of friends are on a spring break trip to the moon at a dance club, where they meet Violet, their feed networks get hacked which makes them lose all ability to access the constant stream of information and updates. The loss of the feed made the teens very discombobulated, while being hospitalized, Titus and Violet’s friendship became a relationship and as a reader you get to understand a bit more about the main characters. Eventually, the victims of the hack were able to get the feed restored but, because Violet did not received the feed late into her childhood rather than at birth like the others there are issues repairing it. It will becomes very clear that Violet has a much different upbringing than the other teenages, as Titus spends more time with Violet his perspective on the world becomes very similar to Violet’s.
