The voyage all began on September 20,1519, with 237 men and 5 tiny ships. Their first stop was in Rio De Janeiro as Ferdinand and his men stopped to restock and trade with the natives. They kept sailing south, but the farther they went the colder it got. In 1520 they finally made it to the Pacific Ocean but the still had a long journey ahead of them. After many long days and many deaths on March 6, 1520 they all reached Guam. Their next and final stop for Ferdinand was the Philippines. He made a huge impact on the world. One major thing Ferdinand discovered was the Spice Island Trade Route. It helped Portugal stay afloat economically because spice trade was a big thing in the early 1500s. Another impact was he proved that the world was round and helped the socially these days because if we never traveled around the world we would not have all of the knowledge we have now to travel around the world. Another impact was that along their voyage when they stopped to restock they spread christianity to all of the tribes. Another impact was that Ferdinand himself named the Pacific Ocean.
Ferdinand Magellan made a big impact on the world today. He also made huge discoveries, as for proving the world was not flat. If he never went around the world we would not be where we are economically and society. After Ferdinand went around the world circumnavigating was not impossible
