FESF way back – Organization History
Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF) is a non-profit educational organization active in Pakistan since 1984. FESF is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all members of the community, especially those who are disadvantaged. FESF invest in educational development and provide innovative training programs and services to enable recipients to gain competency and self-sufficiency, empowering them to reach their full potential. FESF is registered as a non-profit organization with the SECP and is tax exempt. It employs 220 people to run its programs. While FESF’s beneficiaries are from low-income and disadvantaged communities, FESF maintains very high standards in infrastructure, curriculum, training and education programs.
Programs offered by FESF
The organization’s main projects are: Deaf Reach Schools & Training Centers
It is the main project that runs schools for the Deaf. An estimated nine million people in Pakistan have some form of hearing loss. Of these, 1.25 million children are profoundly deaf, yet less than 2% attend school. To address this need, The Deaf Reach Program was established in Pakistan in 1998, initially working informally with deaf youth and young adults. The first Deaf Reach School was established by FESF in Karachi in 2005, and the program has grown rapidly to where there are now seven Deaf Reach Schools and Training Centers located in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkhar, Nawabshah and Lahore, with a new large campus under construction in Tando Allhayar.
