Introduction

In 1957 when the Soviets launched “Sputnik 1”, humanity’s first artificial satellite, the space age began. Sputnik 1 was a sphere made of aluminium alloy; space travel is known as the discovery and exploration of celestial structures in outer space in order to continue evolving technology.

The law of momentum conservation allows a collision between two objects in an isolated system (space), the momentum lost in the first object is equal to the momentum gained of the second object after the collision occurred. The forces of the two objects act between them at a given velocity and time, since they are equal in magnitude they will split in opposite directions. The formula shown is used to derive momentum using calculus, which means in Newton’s second law that the force of an object will be equal to the mass times its acceleration. Impulse is equal to the mass of the change of velocity, According to physics the connection between momentum and impulse ( J=mV) is that the result of the force that is acting at a given amount of time is that the mass of an object will change direction.

In the graph, it states that the change in the momentum of an object is equal to the impulse that is was applied.

According to The Physics Hypertextbook, if we use Newton’s second law of motion, the net force of the rocket is in rest, this means that nothing is pushing the rocket but itself.
