For a person's character to be built or changed, there needs to be a significant experience to provoke them into taking the first steps. This can be seen through the entirety of The Story of Tom Brennan, in the first few lines of the novel Tom says ‘I wanted to be back home having a barbie. Having our normal Australia day. Our Brennan Australia Day, the way we always did.” The colloquialism of the statement and the three words ‘home’, ‘Brennan’, and ‘always’ all used together show that all Tom wants is to have the positive family environment and traditions of the past that because of his brother’s stupidity in causing the car accident he believes he will never be able to have again. Later in the novel Tom decides to visit his brother in gaol, Tom states ‘I took the books out carefully, page…

Many examples of how the morals of the youth changed were in the film. The first one is the breakage of the 18th Amendment. Roxie Hart, the protagonist, consumes alcohol illegally with her lover Fred. Roxie Hart and her boyfriend are shown consuming alcohol on the stairs, a direct stand against rules and standards. During the 1920’s, drinking in public was taboo, but the dare factor of alcohol was an exciting challenge which was meant to be rebelled against by the younger generation (Lazin).…

I have watched this movie more than once but watching it gym class this year gave me a totally different perspective. Instead of sitting on my couch at home and watching it because it was the only movie on, I actually thought about how this movie could apply to my life. I thought about Jake Fisher’s strength and motivation he had, Senior Chief’s love and passion he had and the all-around amazing teamwork that was shown. I myself need to apply love, passion, strength, motivation, etc. to my everyday life because I am an athlete as well. It really affected me when Senior Chief unexpectedly let go of the only thing keeping him alive (Jake). It was so startling and it made me realize that your teammates aren’t just your teammates, but your family. They are the people you would do anything and everything for even if it means giving up your life. Your team isn’t just a bunch of people coming together with a common interest. It’s a family of people who are willing to…
