Film Directors

Alfred Hitchcock, also known as “Master of suspense” mostly worked in the thriller and drama category. He directed three well-known films like, Rear Window(1954), Dial M for Murder(1954), and Psycho(1960). I watched the film Dial M for Murder(1954). I thought it was a very good thriller that that kept you at the edge of your seat because you never knew what was going to happen next. Woody Allen who liked to do magic tricks and play the clarinet in his younger days tended to direct comedy films. He often worked with Diane Keaton(they made 8 films together), Mia Farrow(his former lover), Judy Davis, and Scarlett Johansson. The three most popular films by Allen are La Grande Illusion(1937), Citizen Kane(1941), and Bicycle Thieves(1948). I have not seen any of these three films. James Cameron, nicknamed “Iron Jim” and “Jim” made mostly documentary films along with Sci-Fi films. He tended to work with Michael Biehn, Jenette Goldstein, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The three most popular films by Cameron are, Terminator 2: Judgment Day(1991), Titanic(1997), and Avatar(2009). I have seen all three of these films and thought they were are great. My favorite film between these is, Avatar(2009), I think it had wonderful acting in it, and all the animations were amazing. Tim Burton worked a lot in the Documentary genre but he is more known for his fantasy films. He showed a tendency to work with Johnny Depp, Lisa Marie, Jeffrey Jones, Paul Reubens, Glenn Shadix, Michael Keaton, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Gough, Deep Roy, and Christopher Lee. The three most popular films by Burton are, Vincent(1982), Edward Scissor Hands(1990), and Ed Wood(1994). I have seen the film Edward Scissor Hands(1990), and I thought Johnny Depp was a great actor in it. Clint Eastwood, the icon of macho movie stars tends to work in the documentary and drama category. He showed a tendency to work with Sondra Locke, who he made six films with. The three most popular
