It is a film surrounding the life of a man, Charlie Chaplain, who started as a worker in a steel factory. So he is arrested by the police. On their way to the police station, the police finds out that he lied and so he is set free and they go back in search of the girl. twice.
During his last stay in prison, his new friend gets a job as a dancer in a restaurant. When Charlie is finally released, she begs her boss to give Charlie a job in the restaurant. Her boss gives him the job on the condition that he sings. He is given a job as a waiter at the restaurant and also as a singer until the police comes to ruin everything by coming to arrest Charlie’s girlfriend. This drives them back on the street on the run.
In as much as modern times is a silent movie, I really enjoyed it. My favorite scene of the film was when Charlie got the job at the restaurant. That night, he was supposed to sing. While practicing with his girlfriend, he forgot the lyrics. So as not to forget while singing, she writes the lyrics on his cuff. He lost his cuff while dancing( which I found really funny) so he had to improvise. Which he did well.
