Upon reading the chapter, the filter bubble fundamentally alters the way we encounter ideas and information. According to the book, the filter bubble introduces three dynamics we’ve never dealt with before which is one, you are alone in it, second, the filter bubble is invincible, and third, you don’t choose to enter the filter bubble (Pariser, 2012). In terms of privacy and internet experience, the filter bubble is a centrifugal force that pulls us all apart (Pariser, 2012). When it comes to Acxiom, they generally keep a low profile, but this company is definitely consistent with the lack of privacy. Companies having users and customer’s information without their knowledge creates secrecy. Users should feel like they have control about what data is shared with other parties so their personal freedom won’t be affected.

Pull technology is where information is initiated by the client while push technology is where a transaction is initiated by the central server (Pariser, 2012). A Web browser is an example of pull technology. When you put in your address from the Web browser, your computer pulls information from that server (Pariser, 2012). Television and the mail are examples of push technologies. With push technologies, information shows up on your doorstep without any action on you end (Pariser, 2012).
