We are used to think of the internet as a huge library, with services like Google providing universal map, but that is not true, websites like Facebook, Google, Yahoo news, and the New York times are personalized, based in your web history, these website filter information to show you stuff they think you want to see. they can be very different from what everyone else sees, and what you are looking for.
These websites take your personal information like your location, the language your speaking, the pages that you saved in your bookmark, and the web history, and then show you what they think you are interested in.
I asked my friends to google “Dubai”, and send me a screen shot. most of their search results were different.
I used to see this picture a lot back home, and basically anyone who think a website is inappropriate, they just go to this link and report it, and then it is blocked in every device in Saudi Arabia. And sometimes they approve blocking a website that has nothing that is not appropriate. This service is helpful because in that way you do not have to worry about children when they use internet, but as I said, they also block some good websites, so you kinda stuck inside a bubble and you don’t know what your missing out.
We can not really go out of these bubbles because most websites are formatted this way, but in some websites we can turn off tracking locations, erase the web history, and go anonymous, and it will be less personalized.
