The Meaning of Maturity
Being a mature student does not mean being an oldtimer. Maturity is not measured by the number of years a person has lived. Instead, the yardstick of maturity is marked by the qualities of selfdenial, determination, and dependability.
Selfdenial is an important quality in a mature student. In general, selfsacrifice is the ability to control ourselves from temptation and seduction. Therefore, a mature student should know what he should do, what he should not do, and overcome the desire which he should not have, in order to achieve success in his future. For example, a mature student should study for his exam, and complete all his homework, before enjoying any spare time activities. Moreover, if a student does not understand something up to the point where he struggles are hurting their academics, he should use his free time to go over the subject matter to make sure that he understands it. The ability to push through in tough times and still achieve your goal. When Dr. Christiansen talks about how self-esteem and confidence has to be developed when you were young. My parents could not have agreed more. In my parents’ house there was no such thing as the easy route. And you had to work hard for every penny you earned. There were times when I would look at others, and their parents weren’t pushing them as hard. However, when I look at where they are and where I am. There really is no comparison. This caused to have the discipline to bunker down to study when I did not have an understanding of something, instead of going to a party that weekend. In my career choice entry level’s work long hours, and sometimes over the weekend to make deadlines. And career path to the top is a long one. With the perseverance I have developed from my home culture. I know the only limit is my…

It is said, “Man has three duties – duty towards God, duty towards parents and duty towards mankind.” I think, a student has to do all these three duties including an extra duty, i.e. study. The first and foremost duty of any student, as everyone opines, is study. The main study course of a student consists of the books or materials he / she is supposed to study. These are undoubtedly, the primary source of knowledge for students. Since these are pre-planned and prepared according to their specific needs, they should first learn from them. A wide range of other reference as well as non-reference books, novels, dramas, poetry, magazines, articles, however, will be considered equally important in this regard. After that, a student should say his prayer regularly as praying habit creates all the qualities of humanity like honesty, truthfulness, modesty, politeness, punctuality, discipline etc. He should bear in mind, what Mahatma Gandhi comments, “Real education consists in drawing the best of yourself; what better book can there be than the book of humanity.” He should pass his time in a systematic way, which will help him to follow the rules of discipline and punctuality to the latter. He should take part in games and sports to keep fit also. It helps him to have a sound body and consequently, he can develop a sound mind. He also should take in debate, discussion, seminars, and symposium,…

The student life is the most important period of our life. Our future hopes depend upon it. At this time our mind is like clay. Clay is a very soft thing. The potter makes various things with this clay. Like clay, our mind also can be shaped in different ways. If the pots etc. are once made by the potter, their shapes cannot be changed. Similarly* if our character is once formed in one way, it cannot be changed easily. If we receive good training in our student life, we shall be good citizens in our future life. If, on the other hand, we do not receive good training, we shall not be good men in future. We should, therefore, be very careful. We must take care so that we may receive good training in our student life.…

Secondly, the education system which mainly focuses on studies and has very less significance to other activities. No doubt that education is necessary but the way it is carried to students is equally important. It should be in innovative ways and receptive to new ideas so that students could enjoy while learning instead of taking it as a burden or feel pressurized for it. Thus, in such a way, if students are gaining knowledge while playing or via interesting experiments, the difference between leisure and studies time will go off.…
