Fire Alarms: Senior Year Of High School
When was the last time you had to overcome a challenge that you thought you would never have overcomed? Well that’s how I felt when I had to type five pages and eight slides about Fire Alarms my senior year of high school. What made this assignment difficult for me was that I had other assignments for other class to work on, and I did not have any prior knowledge about Fire Alarm systems. I had no choice but to get it done because it was a requirement for me to able to graduate.

I remember the day when my teacher had assigned me the five pages, I was very upset and I kept complaining and ranting about why the school made it a requirement for all seniors to do so in order to graduate in addition to that we also had to present an

One of the most vital aspects of fire protection is to recognize a budding fire emergency as soon as possible, and to notify the facility's tenants and proper emergency groups. This is the primary function of all fire detection and alarm systems. Depending on the expected fire situation, structures and type, quantity and occupants (health care, business, residential, industrial, and day care), and criticality of contents and mission, these systems can offer multiple key functions to aid in the safety of the occupants (Department of Veterans Affairs (Office of Construction & Facilities Management) , 2011). Their first two functions are the most vital. The first being a way to identify a fire hazard as it transpires through either manual or automatic methods. Secondly, it alerts the structures occupants to an imminent fire hazard and the need to withdraw from the building. Another common function in a non single family structure is to send an emergency alarm notification to the local emergency response organizations. Some systems are even designed to sensitive systems to…

This paper explores the different aspects in living a firefighter’s life. The topics that will be covered are the various types of technology when being a fireman, the different tactics you see on a day to day basis, the physical abilities one must be capable of, and the types of equipment used. The technology used today to help fight fires is extremely progressed and different than it was even just ten years ago. If it were not for these new inventions, communication would not be as easy and complex for any fire station. Firemen face different obstacles every day and have to be ready to jump right in with whatever the circumstance may be. Tactics such as how to use ventilation tools, the proper way to handle forest fires, and the basic prevention techniques to stay as safe and efficient as possible. Becoming a fireman is not cut out for someone who is not athletically gifted. It takes a strong person; both mentally and physically, do complete the drills that one must see every day. The equipment alone is all extremely heavy and powerful. There are many things that most people are unaware of when it comes to the basic characteristics of being a firefighter.…

I had some challenges in the first semester. I realized that it gets harder every year. I felt like ninth grade was a bit easier than this year. The final for English was easy. There were only two questions. We took a final for the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird. My goal is to have good grades, but also pass every class so that I don’t have to retake any. I want to be able to graduate on time. It always gets hard when almost end of the semester. That is the time when teachers start to give out more work. It’s a good idea but the same time bad. It can help bring grades up for some people. Most people are lazy so they rather not do it and fail the semester. My challenge was trying to focus with so many distractions in the way.…

The majority of the time spent in any problem was figuring out what was being asked and that was the skill most of us struggled to develop. In those stressful moments on tests or any work in general it helped me realize that I had a weakness when it came to comprehension and problem solving skills while at the same time reassuring myself of my strength in math since other individuals would also struggle in that area even after figuring out the problem. However, it wasn't far from impossible and in fact those skills learned in problem solving and comprehension helped create the highlight of my junior year in terms of projects done. In the recent weeks after the AP tests were conducted in my Chemistry class we conducted a lab experiment in which using our own chemicals, materials, and designs conducted an experiment in an attempt to created an explosion. The reason being that this project was my favorite is because my groups was the only successful one to have worked using my…

Everyone knows the easiest assignment was the memo. I’m sure everyone already had a resume typed up and saved. I learned how to put one of those together in my high school English class. The memo was easy as well, all it was is typing up a letter to your school president and it didn’t have to be more than a good healthy paragraph. Oh and must I not forget about the movie review which at first I was having a bit of a struggle with but I finally managed to get it together picking a movie both the teacher and I both enjoy. The book review on the other hand should have been in the paragraph right above this one. That paper we had to do about an experience on something was easy along with the rest because it was about me running track. I mean that’s something I could write an autobiography about.…

Doing some research, I learned about the science club in my middle school. During the science club, we did many experience relating to physics and chemistry. Every time we did an experience, I would try to apply it to an airplane. For example, after forming a group of four, we were given the task to design a go cart in auto-cad and then build it in reality. After completing the first challenge we must race it against other groups on race day. During race day, we were expected to calculate speed, drag and friction, and a few years later I did the same with a plane in my first aerospace class. Another example came in high school, when I was in my 3rd year in the robotic club and the adviser gave us a challenge. The challenge was to create a wheelchair pitching machine for a friend of his that happen to be a paralyzed baseball coach. The challenge was tough because it was the first of its kind; however, we learned about compressors, circuits, programming and how to work as a team. As a result, during my sophomore year of college, I took Physics 196 and a programming class. Luckily for me both of those classes were not a challenge because I had learned majority of the content in robotic…

the assignment was to write a second person point of view informative on how to become any occupation of our choice (Naturally I chose the occupation astronaut, a occupation I knew practically nothing on beyond what I could pick up from Sandra Bullock and George Clooney). The essay was difficult to write, it challenged the entirety of my knowledge of grammar. I persevered and wrote a great paper I was proud of. In that class I learned more than how to better my writing but how to appreciate writing and the power it has. It was that class that made me realize the pen truly is mightier than the sword, as lame as that sounds.…

The assignments we are challenging in their own different way. For the rhetorical analysis, finding a technical document for actuarial science was extremely challenging. Outside of finding it, writing was straightforward. For the resume assignment, adjusting it for specific jobs will definitely help next year when looking for jobs and adjusting my resume for specific companies. The teamwork projects including the instruction set and recommendation report helped me learn how to communicate with team members much more effectively and setting up meetings better. I really enjoyed working with my team members and learning how to work on a paper collaboratively and make sure everyone is on the same page writing in the same style producing the same message. It was also a challenge to figure out how to present our reports as we all had different ideas. Trying to decide which would be the best was a big challenge, but voting seemed to be the best way to go about it.…
