AP Chemistry: Clinical Analysis
There is a common myth that high school is an established educational institute set out to deprive you of a social life and your hair before the age of 18 due to its curriculum and demanding courses .This is in fact is one of the biggest disclaimers you'll hear surrounding any high school. In reality, the academic aspect of high school is quite frankly the easiest obstacle to overcome. Although seemingly hard, for the majority of my academic classes this year I've easily adapted and have progressed quite smoothly within each individual course. To tell the truth the hardest course to overcome was AP Chemistry. While the subject itself captivated much of the basic knowledge taught in regular chemistry, the real difficulty was applying those …show more content…
The majority of the time spent in any problem was figuring out what was being asked and that was the skill most of us struggled to develop. In those stressful moments on tests or any work in general it helped me realize that I had a weakness when it came to comprehension and problem solving skills while at the same time reassuring myself of my strength in math since other individuals would also struggle in that area even after figuring out the problem. However, it wasn't far from impossible and in fact those skills learned in problem solving and comprehension helped create the highlight of my junior year in terms of projects done. In the recent weeks after the AP tests were conducted in my Chemistry class we conducted a lab experiment in which using our own chemicals, materials, and designs conducted an experiment in an attempt to created an explosion. The reason being that this project was my favorite is because my groups was the only successful one to have worked using my …show more content…
However, with the good times also came the bad times in school projects. Perhaps the project I am least proud of or could have been better was the trigonometric modeling project for my math analysis class. It's not the fact that the project wasn't fun or even hard, but because it was too straightforward and dull ,in terms of creativity, I did not find it to be the best project. The standards were so easy to meet that to do the project was perhaps one of the easiest tasks anyone could have done their junior year. I’m the type of individual to find joy in a challenge and when one isn’t provided I lack the enthusiasm to do

I went to St. Michael School from Kindergarten through Eighth grade, so when it came time to leave for high school, I was not excited for the change. St. Michael was especially small in regards to student population. We had just under three hundred students split between all nine grades. That left roughly twenty to thirty kids per class. I was extremely used too this small environment and not exactly looking forward to the terrors of high school towering over me nor the thought of being lost in the sea of students. Over the years I was extremely imbedded in my academics. I had straight A’s for my entire time at St. Michael. I received the academic achievement award at Eighth grade promotion for having the highest GPA in my class. Despite this, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to live up…

My eleventh grade year was arduous. Not only was I concerned about passing five Georgia High School Graduation Tests (GGT), but math III was complex. math III was full of foreign concepts and equations. Overtime, I grew excited about learning new concepts in math III. My teacher was a great influence upon me. He regularly encouraged me to work hard. With his support and endless determination I was committed to succeeding. A few weeks went by and class was going great. We were learning how to plot linear functions, factor polynomials, and how to find missing sides on a right triangle. I was very consistent with studying and reviewing past assignments. I knew if I did not study I would not pass the tests. As the end of the semester grew near, I grew concerned about the final exam partly because I had forgotten a few of the earlier lessons in the class.…

High school is a time when challenges are all around, the only difference is sometimes a person doesn’t see them even though there right in front of their face. In other words they are still too young to have the experience to recognize them. Last year I dealt with the challenge of re-evaluating my major of what I thought I wanted to do as a career. For years I felt strong…

When I solve a math problem now, I am questioning everything, always remembering to ask as many questions as possible instead of sitting in a lecture with a blank expression plastered on my face. Rising above my clinical depression and past failures, I have chosen to openly accept all perspectives and integrate them into my learning process. However, this is not to say that I am afraid of failures, for now greet failures with open arms. I sought comfort in knowing that I had risen above my past failures that were haunting me. The fluid progression of this new angle towards learning impelled me to have an open mind in the endless challenge that is…

Doing some research, I learned about the science club in my middle school. During the science club, we did many experience relating to physics and chemistry. Every time we did an experience, I would try to apply it to an airplane. For example, after forming a group of four, we were given the task to design a go cart in auto-cad and then build it in reality. After completing the first challenge we must race it against other groups on race day. During race day, we were expected to calculate speed, drag and friction, and a few years later I did the same with a plane in my first aerospace class. Another example came in high school, when I was in my 3rd year in the robotic club and the adviser gave us a challenge. The challenge was to create a wheelchair pitching machine for a friend of his that happen to be a paralyzed baseball coach. The challenge was tough because it was the first of its kind; however, we learned about compressors, circuits, programming and how to work as a team. As a result, during my sophomore year of college, I took Physics 196 and a programming class. Luckily for me both of those classes were not a challenge because I had learned majority of the content in robotic…

When my parents first expressed to me that I needed to take advanced courses starting freshman year, I was skeptical. I desired an easy, laid-back experience in high school; however, my parents declared otherwise. I began freshman year with three honors classes, and the parental expectation to make at least ninety-five percent in all of my classes. At the time, I thought this to be too extreme, but little did I know that colleges look back on all grades…

As a child I was always warned to not slack up, to instead pick up the pace and keep fighting for more. I translated this to my education; whenever the opportunity to take advanced courses like Honors, and AP came i fought to have a place in those courses. My entire experience in middle School and High School was (and is) a constant struggle to stay on top, on top of my responsibilities, obligations, and struggles. As a student I am proud to have made the decision of becoming an AP student, since it will better prepare me to merge into the flow and atmosphere of Universities. The life of an AP student is quite stressful and always occupied, with new assignments being piled up both in class and out. It is and was a constant struggle to complete…

High school students do not realize that when they get to college these classes force students, or encourage them, to learn responsibilities. You are now able to make all your own decisions: what you study and when you study it. Unlike high school, you are treated like an adult in post secondary classes. You are given responsibilities and tasks to complete on your own time after your professor has left the lecture. This allows you to shape your degree in anyway you want. Perhaps specializing in biology and chemistry to become a Physician, or majoring in accounting to become a Chartered Accountant. Whichever path you choose will be based on the decisions you make along the…

When I first stepped into Anderson High School as a freshman, I was exceedingly confident in myself. I played sports, had gotten good grades, and planned to have an amazing high school career. Freshman and sophomore year were a breeze. If I am being straightforward, I did not focus much on my schoolwork. I did what was required of me and got good grades, but I did not go above and beyond. I had always been told by upperclassman, “It only gets harder from here. Enjoy it while you can.” Now I realize what that means.…

I have intellectually challenged myself by taking Honours and Ap Classes such as Ap Chemistry 12, English Honours 10, and Math honors 9. I have noticed something about taking these classes. They challenge me to an extent I have never been challenged. The labs and the teaching style are tremendously effective. Experiments and labs create opportunities for extensive practical thinking as students need to reflect and process information in an orderly manner. In my AP chemistry class, I have grown in my ability to think things through logically and carefully. The process of labs makes you think on a different level. It requires hard work. I have developed confidence, and hard working skills. Chemistry requires thinking outside the box and being…

This test involves many different sections and many hours of work. I decided to see where i stood the end of my junior year. During the long week of testing i focused, i gave every ounce of energy to focus and make the most out of this testing that i could. I remember one test where i seemed like i had done really well on, it was a questions that had to do with numbers. The lady instructing the course read off a list of numbers, then i would repeat them to her. These numbers started small maybe two or three digits. Then started to increase each round. By the last round i had to repeat up to eight digits. This surprisingly came the most easy to me and set me where i wanted to go in life. After realizing i liked working with numbers, but not only liked but i was good i have thought deeply into becoming an accountant. During the long week of testing for this i focused, i gave every ounce of energy to focus and get the most out of this testing that i could.…

When was the last time you had to overcome a challenge that you thought you would never have overcomed? Well that’s how I felt when I had to type five pages and eight slides about Fire Alarms my senior year of high school. What made this assignment difficult for me was that I had other assignments for other class to work on, and I did not have any prior knowledge about Fire Alarm systems. I had no choice but to get it done because it was a requirement for me to able to graduate.…

Personally, both of my AP courses, AP Biology and AP English Language, were the most challenging. Throughout the year my grades for these two classes fluctuated quite often. My peers and I were given more work and more was expected from us being AP students. From this year coming to an end I have discovered several of my strengths and weaknesses, I found that, like most students, I procrastinated and I had trouble managing my time however I was still able to maintain a positive attitude by being optimistic and finishing my assignments with my best effort. This year was packed with a vast amount of work to complete and expectations to achieve. This year I decided to enroll in CTE courses after school, this only decreased my hours in a day, my…
