Firefighting can be a very dangerous but rewarding career. From putting out a hot blaze to responding to medical emergencies, there is a vast amount of tasks to be completed. Firefighters do many things here are some of them. They drive fire trucks and other emergency vehicles, put out fires using water hoses, fire extinguishers, and water pumps, treat sick or injured people, prepare written reports on emergency incidents, and much more. Firefighters work environments can vary a lot. They may be out saving someone's life or in the fire station. When in the station firefighters will clean and lift weights to stay in shape.

These include engineer, then to lieutenant, captain, battalion chief, assistant chief, deputy chief, and finally, chief. For promotions to positions beyond battalion chief, many fire departments now require applicants to have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in fire science, public administration, or a related field. Some firefighters eventually become fire inspectors or investigators after gaining enough experience.
There are a few other jobs that relate to being a firefighter. One is a job in the security guards and gaming surveillance officers career field. Usually they protect property from theft, vandalism, terrorism, and illegal activities. A second job would be a fire inspector. Basically they examine buildings to detect fire hazards and ensure that federal, state, and local fire codes are met.
