Reflection Assignment
The First Day
As soon as I woke up, I felt the first day jitters kicking in but this time it was as a teacher instead of a student. I had picked out what I thought was the perfect outfit the night before and had my lunch packed and ready to go. As I pulled up to the school, some of my nervousness started to go away, the friendly staff at Mountain View made me feel at ease and my mentor teachers’ confidence started rubbing off on me.
Ms. McIntire and I stood outside the classroom door greeting the students as they walked in. The students had an owl treat bag waiting for them at each of their desks. The students were not assigned seats the first day and were allowed to sit wherever they pleased. After they were all seated, Ms. McIntire introduced herself and then had me introduce myself. Ms. McIntire did not want to overload the students, so she only went over the classroom rules and her procedures for taking the role and leaving the classroom. The classroom rules are posted as a reminder at the front of the room where they are easily seen by each student.
