— John Dickinson (Delaware Delegate), 1787
I agree with this quote completely. The quote says it all, it is what keeps us revolving as citizens of the United States of America. Without it I believe we would be like the rest of the world, not built up yet, having more wars, people not living in freedom, a very poor, sad, depressed country. Some do not like all the laws of the Constitution but they are neccessary for a modernized civilization and keep us living the way we do everyday. I never knew that September 17th was Constitution Day as I did not know that it was created on that day either. But after reading up on the Constitution and some of the quotes I now see why that day is so important to us as Americans. I never payed much attention to it because it's just something that has always been and will always be in our country. I now understand why it is so important. I always knew what it was but until today it has a greater meaning to me. I just reenlisted into the Marine Corps last week and I raised my hand and had to sware on oath that I would support and defend the Constitution. We in the military have a special duty to the President and to the people of the United States. We keep the people free and the document safe and close to the hearts of people even though they may be living life day to day not knowing what it means to them and gives to them just as I did.
