Introduction
I have found my meaning of life after i am finished to read the self-help book named “Brilliant Positive Psychology” which was written by Charlotte Style. As my major is international business, I have been taught to be a successful businesswoman in the past lessons. Money and fame seem to be the major indicators for the level of successful in this materialistic social culture. However, several research found that the more materialistic people are, the less happy and satisfied with life they are.(Kasser, 2006) Thus, there is a clash of values, when i am fulfilling my work potential at that cost of my need to flourish in my family life.
This book introduces many brilliant insights in guiding me to life brimming with happiness and fulfilment, also strengthen my ability to achieve my goals in different area. This essay is divided into three parts. First, I will summarize the core concept of positive psychology. Second, I will evaluate my own strengths and weaknesses by linking the psychology concepts and my past experiences. Third, I will set up an action plan for improvement.
Summary
I would have thought that all psychology only focus on problems in human behavior but after reading this book, my whole mindset was reformed. Despite from the traditional psychology, “positive psychology is a hot and separate idea recently, study of happiness and well-being, turning back to its roots in looking at the working flourishing mind.
