Leading Collaborative Initiatives and Engagements
This third writing assignment is intended to enhance your understanding of collaborative leadership in community development, as well as to broaden and deepen your understanding of five essential elements of collaborative leadership: deciding on a collaborative strategy; identifying and convening stakeholders; designing a constructive process; building capacity; and ways of engaging. For this third writing assignment, everyone in the class will prepare and submit a paper (between 3-5 pages long with a minimum of 800 words) about your reflections on those five essential elements of collaborative leadership as described in chapters six, seven and eight in the Chrislip textbook. Specifically, you will discuss how you and others would apply/implement those five essential aspects of collaborative leadership in either: (1) the community organizing experience you recently wrote about in writing assignments #1 and #2; or (2) the current topic of public concern that you reported on in Online Discussion #5.

label them (e.g., Figure 1: Local Unemployment Statistics) and include the source (if you took the picture or drew the map, list yourself as the source).
This written assignment should be typewritten, double-spaced, and paginated.
It should be typed in an MS word document (rich text format) in Ariel-Times New Roman- 12 font with 1 inch margins. It should contain (at the top- right hand margin) your name, and the assignment number. You should name the file- LDR 154 Assignment 3 SP13- Your Last Name. Please remember that references should be cited using the style guidelines set forth in the MLA Style Manual, 2nd edition (or most recent version- see Course Documents for a link to MLA Instructions). Use the parenthetical citation style with references shown in the Works Cited list at the end of the paper. This assignment will be evaluated on the following
criteria:
1 Presentation: grammar, syntax, spelling, composition;
2 Form: structure, format, citation of sources;
3 Content: quality of research, incorporation of secondary sources, depth of analysis, coverage of the topic;
4 Relevance: applicability and relevance to course topic; and
5 Timeliness: late papers may be accepted for half credit and will receive no credit if received more than a week late.
At the beginning of Week 7, you will be provided a link to Assignment #3 where you will be able to upload your assignment into the Grade Center. Basically, this is the same submission process used for all other written assignments. Assignment #3 is due by the end of Tuesday evening, February 26, 2013.
