Statement of the Problem : Causes of Flash Flood.
Intro : | Flash floods are floods that happen very suddenly and with little warning. They are very dangerous What is flash flood? A sudden local flood, typically due to heavy rain. |
. A very heavy rain or an accident like a dam break can cause one.Sometimes the ground is too hard or too wet to soak up water. The only place the rain can go is downstream. Usually rainfall of more than one inch in one hour is needed to cause a flash flood. Sometimes a place can get hit by a flash flood even if it's sunny because it might be raining on higher ground somewhere.Dams are designed to hold a river's water in reserve for when people may need it. If a dam were to break then all the trapped water would rush down the river at the same time and cause a flash flood.Body of the research:The OCD said the flashfloods and landslides hit New Bataan, a first-class municipality in the gold-rush area of Mt.Diwalwal, which is surrounded by mountain ranges that supposedly keep away from typhoons.Diwalwal is categorized by Environment and disaster agencies, however, as one with a high geohazard risk, owing to the activities of small miners. Two days before Pablo struck authorities had issued an appeal to them to stop in order to cut the risk of landslides. At least 20 people went missing after reportedly washed away by the flood. Captain Severino David, commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command’s disaster response task group, said heavy rains caused a flashfloods in Barangay andap, sometime between 4am and 10am Tuesday. The flashflood also washed out a military outpost, killing a sergeant and injuring a military officer.Recommendation :I think they should stop or even minimize activities of mining gold to avoid landslide and flashfloods. And we should stop throwing trash everywhere put it in the right place to prevent blocking of passage way water.
