Fly By Maddie And Tae: Poem Analysis
Athletics are something that I take very seriously when it comes to trying to reach my goals. In addition to athletics, academics are something that I strive to work hard at and be really good at and also set my goals high for. Sometimes there are risks that I must take when I am reaching for my goals. Eventually I will reach my goals and that is when I will reflect and remember how I got there. The song “Fly” by Maddie and Tae illustrates how I have struggles athletically and academically to reach my goals but how I will eventually reach them and will not forget how I worked to reach my goals.
On lines four through six, “Running down her dreams in a dirty dress, Now her heart’s a mess, Praying she find a way to make it” pertains to me because I aspire to be great athletically and academically. However, it gets really hard sometimes and breaks me down. I get really upset emotionally and mentally exhausted from pushing myself and not seeing the outcomes I am looking for. Sometimes I have to pray to find a way to make it through the plateaus and stressful times and reach my goals. The line where it says “in a dirty dress” relates to two things; the first relates to me wearing my sports

Just keep on reaching though the limb might break… Cause you can learn to fly on the way down”. These lines of lyrics are very important because it says to keep reaching and keep climbing for your goals even though it may get rough. This lyric says to keep going even though there is risk and there may be obstacles. This relates to me because I keep going for my goals even though I want to quit because it's hard. Even though there may be risks, I have to be willing to take them to achieve what I want to in life. The song says “you can learn to fly on the way down” which I interpret as if I fall or fail I can still reach my goals if I am set back a

The song “Baby It’s Cold Outside” was originally written by Frank Loesser but the version I chose was from Glee sung by Kurt and Blaine. This song represents how a holiday like Christmas is supposed to be spent with a person you love and so in the song the singer is talking to someone special and is asking them to stay for a while longer. The poetic devices they use are out there, I really can’t stay, and baby it’s cold outside. The song has a rhythm to it. The song rhymes a lot. There is a meaning to how the rhythm and rhymes are shown in the song.…

The first major theme is that people should never stop moving forward. In other words, this means that no matter what life throws at someone, people need to find the strength to pick them selves up. “These thoughts were going through my mind as I continued to run, not feeling my numb foot, not even realizing that I was still running, that I still owned a body that galloped down the road among thousands of others.”…

If I was to cast the poem as a movie I would cast Tichina Arnold as the mother, because she is a vibrate actress and Arnold could easily change from her professional voice to her mom's voice. Most of the role Arnold has played is like the mother in the poem, the mother is strong and professional, but at the same time the mother is loving and cares about her child. Arnold has had roles like Pam on the TV show "Martin" and the mother on the TV show "Everybody Hates Chris" and these characters have the some characteristics of the mother in the poem. The actor that I would cast for the role of the father is Terry Crew. Crew has already played such a role and it was in the TV shoe "Everybody Hates Chris". Crew was a strong, fun, and construction…

The song speaks about doing whatever it may be it “Before it’s too late.” Therefore, it is telling us that we have to take the chance when we get the chance because we will never know when it is going to be too late. Aside from the fact that this song was written to portray a movie’s theme, this song is also a lesson for those to many. A lesson to those to afraid to take a risk, that what they need most is to let go of their fear and take the chance. This song is mostly saying that there is no point in putting off thing because there is no better time than…

The song " Just a Girl" by No Doubt shows the stereotypes, oppressions and standards that women are subjected to in our society. The author feels oppressed because she is "...just a girl" and because of that the author thinks that" ...I'm just a girl, all pretty and petite So don't let me have any rights". The oppression makes the author feel lesser than a man even though she is aware that she doesn't need a man she feels that "This world is forcing me to hold your hand" .The author's decision to include these lines also help show the stereotypes that women are all expected to be small and weak and always need a men to help them become something.…

Gallons of sweat trickled down my face while I seamlessly ran up and down the track. At times, I didn’t think I would get through it. It was an everyday struggle to continue my journey down the path of success. At practice, we would relentlessly run and run and run until our breathing neared nonexistent. I, for one, could barely keep up, but the fight inside of me did not die out. My coach would tell us that our meet was nearing and our will to win kept pushing everyone harder. We ran three to four miles a day with little to no breaks. He would yell motivational phrases to push us, but in all honesty, we just wanted to get back in our beds and sleep the day off. Although this is true, It became important to me to work to better myself and though…

The works we studied within Creative Writing were all helpful in creating my own works to submit to the class. Throughout all of the reading, many of the works inspired me in different ways, whether it was short story plot ideas or word usage in the poems. While crafting my work for the final portfolio, I reviewed many of the poems from our poetry packet in an effort to find inspiration and to create new interesting images. I took the most inspiration for my formal poem, which I found most difficult to write. One of the poems that was most useful to me was Jilly Dybka’s “Memphis, 1976.” Dybka’s poem follows the sestina form; I also wrote my last poem in this form, so it helped to follow the form by looking at her poem as an example. Dybka’s…

    Mother To Son

When the mother is talking to her son she explains to him that life isn’t easy and that he should be prepared for the obstacles up ahead. For example, it is stated that the mother tells her son that, “Don’t you fall now-” “For I’se still goin’, honey” (17-18). This demonstrates that the mother wants her boy to understand that life isn’t always going to be a piece of cake but stairs with endless obstacles. Furthermore, the author is trying to give the idea of how life is a blocked pathway and we need to find a way to get around that pathway. Another example is when the mother is getting her boy to understand that even if he, “finds it’s kinder hard” (16), he needs to keep on going. This proves that the mother wants to put the idea in her son’s head that life isn’t a clear path and it comes with a great deal of boulders in the way. Moreover, this shows that the mother just wants her son to be prepared for the life ahead because once he enters the real world he will experience obstacles off far. As a result, when the mom is talking to her son she wants to give him the message that of how he should be mindful of life because of how life isn’t always easy.…
