The movie, Food Inc., again, I was not surprised by most of the information that was presented. Most of our food is pumped with antibiotics causing naturally bacteria to become resistant or has been genetically modified by major corporations. It was constantly preached at my undergraduate college to be “green” in all aspects of life, buy local, eat organic, recycle and so on. So, it was this was not a shock. While, I was watching the Food Inc., I did find it interesting the interaction of the small farmers and the large corporations. In this day in age, small farmers have to compete with large commercial farming corporations. The mom and pop farmers are thoroughly at a disadvantage because these commercial farms come with more financial backing, genetic engineered seeds, antibiotic filled living stock, and have lawyers to protected their company. The commercial companies truly have power, where they have patented their seeds and pushed farmers to settle out of court in their favor when company’s seeds have “infested” the small farmers land. This is unjust treatment of the small farmers. The commercial farmers also have power to cause antibiotic resistance bacteria to evolve or spread to different areas. Looking to past, to solve the further might be the better solution in the long run for the animals, the people, and the environmental because it allows for the healthier solution. The commercial companies think of how to solve the problems with new technology and not what are the causes is and to see if it can be used with old technology. If the commercial companies cannot see their fault in the past actions and their unethical behavior toward their competitors, they should not be involved in public
