The director Is Andy Tennant he was born into a family of creative talent. Ever since he has been directing movies they have been about love and conflict as in Fools Rush In. Each movie starts off as a some what normal situation between two people who will almost always end up together but have to go through a lot to solve all of their problems they face in being together.
The writer is Katherine Reback And Joan Taylor both known for writing witty romantic movies likes Fools Rush In which was written in 1997.
The title of this movie correlates with the whole movie because it is after all about how to people who didn’t even know each other end up getting pregnant hence calling them a fool. And what did they do? They rushed …show more content…
into a marriage and into a family neither of them expected
The opening credits introduce who the main character of the movie will be. one being the busy Mathew Perry playing Alex Whitman who is always on the move and working. The other Salma Hayek Playing Isabel Fuentes who is calm and doesn’t live a very busy life.
The film starts the way it does because it shows the viewers how the lives differ between Alex and Isabel and where they both come from and what type of life the ultimately lived before the rest of the plot takes place.
Culture is brought up between the two characters right in the beginning of the movie. Isabel though everything happens for a reason and family is a huge part of her life. Where Alex only meets up with his family only at holidays. She’s Catholic, he's Presbyterian she's open and fun-loving, he's pretty stiff he needs to return to New York for work, but she wants to remain in Vegas; she believes in signs and fate, while he's awfully practical.
The lead to the climax happens when Isabel shows up at Alex's door and drops the bomb that she is pregnant with his baby. From this point on is where the issue of her being pregnant leads to the solution of her and him getting married at a cheap-o wedding chapel where Elvis hand her off to him to become Alex’s pregnant bride. When the newly weds should be excited and maybe some what nervous for their baby they have much bigger issues to deal with, including Isabel’s hard headed father and the fact that Alex has not told Isabel he must return to Manhattan before her due date arrives. All of these issues lead to the fall of the movie when Isabel finds out her husband is leaving her she chooses to lie about her being not pregnant any longer, which leads to the break of Alex’s and hers marriage and they go their separate ways. But in the end like in a lot of Andy Tennant’s films the couple finds a way back into each others hearts once again and from then on they will be together like they should have been the whole movie.
Conflict is a huge part of Fools Rush In, in every part of this movie there seems to be a problem that comes along with it.
The director made it so the viewers think everything in this movie is going good and all of the problems are solved and then he throws a curve ball in just when you think everything has been solved. These conflicts don’t always turn out on a happy note at times they end with a heart breaking moment but that is why Fools Rush In is such a great movie it shows that not every love story turns out the same way as a typical “ fairy tail ending”. The director really shows that life is not a fairy tail and you do have to go through things good or bad to achieve a end result whatever it may be. This film in all had a lot more conflict then most which only lead up to more questions If the end result of the movie would be two single people one a single mother or a happy family despite the problems they have faced. Even after all of this conflict the solution to this movie was for Alex to see that all the signs pointing to go and find Isabel where true and that he needed to go and resolve what had happened between him and her which he does, which in the end leads them to each other once again and they have their baby and live “ happily ever
after”.
The director of the Fools Rush In uses music in different scenes of the movie to describe the feel and tone of the situation happening. Music in the film also shows the culture present in this film, most of the music being Latin like Isabel. He also uses the volume of the music to show if it is a happy scene the music will be more upbeat but it the scene has more of a sadness he will use a slower more deep beat. The director cuts out the music out completely when a serious situation is going on and concentrates on what is being said between the characters to show how intense their conversation may be.
The director uses perspective when the two characters are talking about deep issues. Example when Alex is telling Isabel he wants to help her with the baby in anyway that he can the director made sure use a close up on the two's eye to eye contact to show the expression of both of their faces. But when the director wants to show an event happening for example the dinner of Isabel’s family where there is many people in one area he would use a tracking shot to show more then one specific spot at a time.
In conclusion this film showed the conflict and love between two fools who end up together in a not so traditional way, and how even if your not expecting to rush into a life you never thought you may have that it can happen at anytime even if it is outside a bathroom at a bar. The film also shows how the saying opposites attract isn’t just a saying it can happen to anyone at anytime, The movie in a whole was a clumsy put together of a love story but has a good meaning behind everything that happened,
