In the year 1925, the first cleats with removable studs were created by the Dassler Brothers. It made it easier for football players because they could just remove the studs and walk home. In the 1960s, the first sets of cleats designed for kicking specifically were created.
This made it easier for kickers and improved their ability to kick the ball. By 1969, turf fields started to pop up calling for the design of new cleats. The first set of turf ready cleats were created for the Super Bowl played between the Dolphins and Viking. Cleats have immensely improved from the first cleats and continue to improve. Cleats are much more lighter and made of much more breathable material. Manufactures have designed cleats that provide comfort while being super sturdy. Manufacturers have been able to add funky designs to cleats to make them look better and players enjoy the style. Traction has greatly improved and you can find a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors. They have ankle high, low ankle support cleats. You can now remove the studs and buy new ones when your old ones wear down. The cleat has greatly improved.
