Footsteps of Jesus in the Modern World
CHAPTER II
INTRODUCTION

Jesus Christ lived 33 years in this world a lot of years ago. Upon those 33 years of span especially during His ministry, Hew went in so many places and did so many miracles as well. In this chapter, not all but some significant places where Jesus, our savior, stepped in will be recalled. The main basis is the bible and even more scriptures because it was written itself there in the Gospel of John that “now, there are many other things that Jesus did. If they were all written down one by one, I suppose that the whole world could not hold the books that would be written” (Jn21:25). Jesus lived in the country of Palestine. This country consist of 3 provinces namely Galilee in the northern part, Samaria in the middle part and Judea at the southern region. this chapter consists of 2 parts, Galilee and Judea. There were not much records of Jesus when He was in Samaria but the Samaritan woman so Jesus the researcher focused on the 2 provinces where Jesus was born, lived, served, sacrificed and died.

A. Galilee
Galilee is the land, the province in Palestine, where Jesus began His ministry. Galilee is also the place where Jesus came, Nazareth- a part of Galilee. As a matter of face, eleven of the apostles of Jesus were from Galilee while the other one was Judas Iscariot came from Judea. One of the most significant places here is the Sea of Galilee or the lake Galilee. As a whole, galilee was the land where Jesus did a lot of miracles of cure and preached many important teachings of love. That’s why it may be called the land of “supreme loveliness and change.”

A.1. Nazareth Nazareth is the hometown of Jesus as what He was usually called “Jesus of Nazareth”. He grew here as a carpenter being taught by His father Joseph. His father was a very well-known carpenter in that time as what he was usually called “Cannis the Carpenter.” Mary, the mother of Jesus, took the care of the home; make bread, weave clothes and fetch water.

Jesus of Nazareth was born in a Jewish family, raised under Jewish law. The most audacious claim Jesus would ever state was that he was the Messiah and stating that he was God’s son. After Jesus’ death, his apostles spread his teachings throughout the Ancient world. The teachings of Jesus of Nazareth spread across the Classical world because it provided hope for all it’s followers, taught a doctrine of nonviolence, and because it invited all people of ethnic backgrounds.…

In Under the Feet of Jesus Viramontes plays with the heartstrings of those who read the story. It explores deeply the subjective and symbolic violence of the exploitation and destruction of migrant workers. The beautiful prose fantasizes the horrid conditions and everyday struggles that plague the family. With one misstep they are crushed beneath the societal system that is meant to even out the playing field. They are set up to fail. The focus is not truly on Alejo’s tragedy, but the symbolic destruction and disposal of a “tool” for the farm owners. Easily replaceable Alejo is nothing more than a broken basket. As Estrella puts it aptly “it was their bones that kept the air conditioning in the cars humming,…

As diverse and multicultural as today’s society may appear, the majority of individuals have still heard of the gospels that help make up the Holy Bible. Although there are many in the Bible, the four canonical gospels, Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John, are perhaps the most widely recognized. These four, although composed by different individuals, share many similarities in common such as how those who encounter Jesus after his resurrection behave. Even certain traits that characterize Jesus himself after resurrection are somewhat related.…

People have different views of what mercy truly is. One of the most popular definitions is that mercy is compassion or kindness. Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson gives us a different but deeper understanding of what the word “mercy” honestly means, however, his experience changed his meaning of it forever. Reading this book also opened my eyes to what the real definition is; Not the one that is commonly known.
