Forrest Gump is an epic romantic-comedy-drama film. It was produced in 1994. The movie is about a man named Forrest Gump and his story. The film starts off with Forrest being a little boy at the doctors. He needed a leg brace to teach him how to walk. His mom always wanted him to have an equal opportunity in everything Forrest did. He first met Jenny on the first day of school on the bus. He quickly fell in love with her and he never stopped loving her. Forrest got sent to the Vietnam War where he became good friends with Bubba and he met Lieutenant Dan. When he got back from the war he started to play Ping-Pong for the All American team. Forrest continued to look for Jenny and she would leave him every single time. Forrest was
a national star; he played for the All-American football team, owner of Bubba Gump, Ping-Pong champion and the man who wouldn’t stop running. Jenny eventually returned to Gump later to die by an unknown virus.
In the movie there is natural movement. At no point did anyone in the movie make an exaggerated movement. The movie was made to look like it was actually occurring in real life. All of the camera shots were used in the movie. The establishing shot was used several times in the movie. They used it when Forrest was running away from the Napalm in Vietnam and during the peace parade in Washington DC. The close up shot was used when Bubba was about to die. It got closer to his face to make the viewer sadder. Both of the other shots were used multiple times in the movie.
The movie also used angles various times. Often times they used a high angle but it was to show how small the characters were compared to the setting. There were two examples of editing in the film. They used CGI to record the Napalm bombing in Vietnam. They had Gump running prior to the bombing then they placed Gump in front of the bombing using a computer. The peace parade in Washington DC was also edited. They used 1500 extras and then made copies of the people to make it seem like hundred thousand people were there.
