Fort Sumter was named after a War General and it was only one of 50 other forts the U.S Congress has that is part of a defense program in 1817. “While the island itself was only 2.4 acres in size, the fort was built to accommodate a garrison of 650 soldiers and 135 artillery pieces.”

Beauregard. It was a mortar that notified the other islands to start firing. Thousands of people came to see the forts go into the battle between each other of the islands.

Abner Doubleday was the first man to shoot the first bullet of the start of the Civil War and that's when other forts started firing on Fort Sumter. The other forts had heated up cannons that lit things on fire. Since quite a few things in Fort Sumter was made out of wood, the fort started to catch on fire. Things were starting to heat up and men started to get tired and Fort Sumter started running out of supplies.
After 34 hours of just shots being fired Anderson finally decided to surrender and end it. He went up and took the flag down. Through all that, there were no men killed and there were no casualties, Although one man from the Union artillerist did die after the surrender, his cause of death was because of an explosion of a cannon. President Lincoln gathered up 75,000 men to stop the secession that was going on through the states. The states saw this as a threat and this was the beginning of the civil
