Fossil Record Is Simply False
Creationists sometimes cite what they claim to be an incomplete fossil record as evidence that living things were created in their modern forms.
But this argument ignores the rich and extremely detailed record of evolutionary history that paleontologists and other biologists have constructed over the past two centuries and are continuing to construct. Paleontological research has filled in many of the parts of the fossil record that were incomplete in Charles Darwin’s time. The claim that the fossil record is “full of gaps” that undermine evolution is simply false. Indeed, paleontologists now know enough about the ages of sediments to predict where they will be able to find particularly significant transitional fossils, as happened with Tiktaalik

Europeans had been digging up strange-looking bones along lakebeds and riverbanks for hundreds of years before the 18th century (Strauss). Many of the finds confused the Europeans since they could not wrap their heads around where the bones were coming from. The intact skeleton of the marine reptile, Mosasaurus, was incredibly important as naturalist Georges Cuvier identified it as belonging to an extinct species (Strauss). From this point on, rational scientists realized they were dealing with creatures that lived and died millions of years before humans appeared on earth (Strauss). This lead to many scientists trying to answer questions about these ancient creatures, especially when they actually lived. Even still, less open-minded people stuck to a strict creationist viewpoint. Although there have been many fossil finds that would contradict what the Bible says about when they lived, God has already answered the questions for us with His word directly.…

    (1) This theory of evolution, though often presented as an established fact, is up to the present time only an unverified hypothesis. (2) Science has utterly failed to discover any missing links between man and the supposed animals from which he originated. (3) Furthermore, evolutionists argue that evolutionary trends occur through the processes of mutation. But this view fails to account for the increased complexity of man. (4) Scientists have utterly failed to demonstrate or identify the origin of life (organic) from inorganic substances.…

In the article, “Reading Between the Fossil Lines,” by Gleason L. Archer (reasons.org, 1 October, 2001), the author states that one of the biggest arguments against the literal validity of Genisis 1 comes from the evidence of the age of fossils and minerals as studied and proven in geology. Fossils are preserved remains of plants, animals and organisms that existed in the past. Paleontologists have recorded significant amounts of data to support that fossils are tangible proof of an earth that has been around longer than 10,000 years. In Progressive Creationism, there is room for rhetoric, allegory, metaphor and hyperbole in interpretations of the Scripture. Fossils’ strong scientific evidence defines an existence of…

Moreover, the material covered is highly specialized and may seem hard to follow for readers without a background in anthropology. There are several concepts, such as the idea of primate ancestry, that everyday people might not comprehend. This article might also receive resistance from those who do not agree with evolution, or even outright denial. I personally enjoy this article and the way the author presents the information. It is helpful for readers to have both sides of the argument, and Hoffman presents this skill when he includes the opposing views of other esteemed researchers. Not only does Hoffman present this information well, but also he ties the information with evidence from reliable sources, which boosts this article and keeps it entertaining. Hoffman is an excellent writer and does a good job stimulating his reader, assuming they have some background in anthropology or general…

Northeastern Illinois has a great deal of geological history hidden beneath the surface. If you just take a trip to the Larson Quarry or even Pit 11 you can find some interesting rock formations as well as fossils in them. But, if you cannot get to these areas, this paper can tell you what you can find in 5 different locations in Northeastern Illinois. We will be looking at Larson Quarry, Thornton Quarry, Mazon River, Pit 11, and the Glacial Drift which is at Palos Hills and throughout the surface of the Chicago area).…

In the movie “The Land that Time Forgot (1975)” we noticed that, although some of dinosaurs portrayed had some accuracies to their characteristics, most had glaring flaws. The first dinosaur we addressed was the Pterodactylus. The movie accurately portrayed the Pterodactylus because it has a short tail, 3 claws per wing and it is only shown during the day. The inaccuracies of the movies Pterodactylus were that it was way too big (was said to have an actual wingspan of around 1 meter), it did not have a head crest, it was not located by the sea, and it would not have been able to lift a human off of the ground as portrayed in the movie. The next dinosaur seen was Diplodocus.…

The geological record does not support Darwin’s theory because there are no intermediate species found in fossils and sometimes groups display abrupt modifications. However, this can be the result of changes in the earth’s surface, unfitting conditions for fossil formation, the destruction of existing fossils, and the lack of discovery of fossils. Darwin uses these possibilities to argue against the naturalists, saying that there is not enough knowledge about the history of earth to draw conclusions on…

Explanations of how these findings impacted the developing theory of evolution and relate to the modern theory of evolution: He came up with the theory of punctuated equilibrium which explained that evolution didn't occur at a constant rate but it brought him into conflict with other evolutionary biologists such as Richard Dawkins. Punctuated equilibrium is now widely accepted as being a valid explanation for apparent gaps that had appeared in the fossil record. It still involved a process of natural selection so it didn't contradict Darwin's original theory.…

According to the Great Archaeology; History of Archaeology’s online glossary, the definition of a fossil is "the recognizable remains such as bones shells or leaves other evidence tracks burrows impressions of past life on Earth." In more simple terms, a fossil is the preserved evidence of structured organic material that once lived on earth. The same glossary defines a mummy as "a corpse whose skin and organs have been preserved by either intentional or incidental exposure to chemicals, extreme coldness, very high humidity, or lack of air when bodies are submerged in bogs." In summary, a mummy is structured organic material (a human, animal, insect, etc.) that humans or nature has preserved. Therefore, a mummy is a fossil because, the definition of a mummy, fits into the definition of a fossil.…

Fossils are way for people to know what organisms were like long ago. These fossils show us how some species have evolved and some that did not change and evolve died out. Fossils shape how scientists see the way that organisms have changed through the years. Changes can be seen in the sedimentary rocks. This gives scientists a timeline of when the changes took place.…
